You could want....just like
You have.....great collection.
Had 3 160's
And 3 other 4" ....what's your rarest.

The rarest is most likely the fork mounted 150. Also have a very old 152. A very old 142 is also in the group. Also the 114 that bolts directly to the mount. These are all mid 50's scopes.

Do not remember if I bought that from you. This one is so old that the box looks primtive. The OTA, mount and tripod all fit in the same box. The objective has no writing on it. Only the focuser.

Awesome! Now I don't feel so guilty about depleting that collection by one mount. Better this gear be in the hands of someone who appreciates it rather than buried in a closet. Don't see any folded 75mms- certainly there's one there?

This is about 10 years of mad buying. The UPS guy was getting a bit upset. The Fed Ex guy was OK with it. The postman is getting slower every day. Love those priority flat rate boxes. One day one came filled with counterweights. He looked like he aged that day

I have some rings for the 3" but they are assigned. I need to better organize the parts. I did not even realize I had 3 sets of 4" guidescope rings However, that does mean I can make three photo equatorials. I have three uni balances. I started the organizing because I also have some requests for photo equatorials. So I needed to make sure I had everything.

I haven't gotten to it yet Robert. Been busy with other things. I just finished the lens cell for the Jaegertron last Saturday. That took longer than expected. I haven't decided how to make the clamps for the panels yet. Probably CNC. the panels themselves aren't the problem. Will use 1/16 inch think aluminum plate.

Of course the real panels would be better if some really nice person had some to sell me. I already have the tube brackets and rod.

Terra, I need to take inventory to make sure I have enough panels for complete scope sets. I would hate to be the one that is looking for panels after I donated some to another cause. Like I stated before. Extra parts can go. Complete sets I will not break up.

To me it's a warehouse. Looks like one, feels like one and smells like one (cardboard had an interesting odor). However, if I would set each scope up it would require a warehouse. There are over 30 complete unitrons in there plus tons of parts.

To me it's a warehouse. Looks like one, feels like one and smells like one (cardboard had an interesting odor). However, if I would set each scope up it would require a warehouse. There are over 30 complete unitrons in there plus tons of parts.

Close enough for me I guess.

I don't think my "senses" had anything to do with what I said. It is more that you finaly supplied the photos many had been requesting and you had been promising for years.
As for being a "troublemaker" if questioning what some have to say in their posts is considered troublemaking I am guilty and do not have a problem with that moniker at all.

Never crossed my mind. I kinda doubt that would ever happen in a thread you started. Prove me wrong.

You should change your name from starman876 to Unitrons R Us!

Well ... that is a mess of Unitrons. I must admit I would love to physically roam around in there for while. (Like a few days).

Bob

There are a few people that went in and never came back out so I would advise against that
Maybe that odor is not cardboard

I already made sure there were no four legged critters in the dungeon. However, how do I spot Unirats and Polar rats. Are they two legged with a big grin.

There are three species in this genus, Rattus unitronus, Rattus polaris, and lastly the dreaded Rattus humanis. The first two are four legged, pretty small, very friendly and make great pets. They have an affinity for this particular type of astronomical boxing as a habitat but dont do any damage. Rattus humanis however is two legged very tall and can be a problem. They actually remove parts from the packaging and try to assemble working telescopes. They are impossible to get rid of Mark

I see, I normally let the dog handle those. It has been great. I have not needed to buy dog food in a long time.

What was interesting was all the focal reducers and lenses that fit into the camera I found while organizing. Also, found a couple of the Polarex 25mm orthos and one other ortho I did not know were in the lot. Those are nice eyepieces. I have to go through the boxes and sort everything and then label whats in each one. There are a ton of parts for 114 and 128 mounts. Like slow motion units with the springs, setting circles, mounts that are missing a few things to make then complete, but most of this is NOS that I bought over the years. Found one box I forgot about with objectives in it. Both 60mm and 75mm in cells. Sorry, no 102mm lenses. So as I sort it out I will put up more pictures.

Hi Starman.
Thanks for keeping the Unitron family alive and thanks for assembling parts needed for individual scopes here on CloudyNights.
We do need to continue the sale of classic telescopes here and not to wait till you are no longer here to show the heirs the value of the product!
Selling parts does make differences and I have learned to avoid charitable organizations of the past, and those lessons have been learned.
Giving to local museums, those charitable organization's "scope scraps" are destined to storage rooms never-to-ever see the evening's light.
For this I have learned....
I hope, like you, may we wish to rectify?
I have an original 510 5" field tripod version from 1959, untouched for over 50 years, I wish the scope the best of the best a new home.
Jim

I have never even touched a 5" Unitron. Something I have always wanted to do. They are magficant intruments that deserve to be loved. If you need someone to love that 5" my arms are open
