Update:

Checked again with Canon 40D set to Manual and Bulb.
Works! Either connected to the MK808 directly or over my USB3 hub.
So no problems there.

The Canon 6D does not work at all it seems impossible that the MK808 connects to the camera...

best regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

Canon 6D uses a different camera protocol as stated in
http://www.gphoto.org/doc/remote/

I have just added the support for 1000D or silimar cameras. Please download the patch from:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/iastrohub/files/patch20131226.zip/download

Unzip the file and copy all files to /home/pi/www
Then select 1000D in Admin page. I hope the 1000D protocol works for Canon 6D. Let me know the result.

Best regards,
Anat

If it doesn't work, please send me the output log when running this command:

gphoto2 --auto-detect

and

gphoto2 --list-config

Hello Anat

I am just testing after installing the patch.

The 6D does not work with the 1000D setting or the 40D setting.
However it seems to work with the 550D/1100D setting. Does this make sense?

The 40D works with the 40D setting and the 1000D setting but does not work with the 550D/1100D setting.

Output:
root@rk3066dev:~# gphoto2 --auto-detect

Hi Chris,

Thank you. From your log, 6D uses the same property as 550D/1100D:
/main/actions/eosremoterelease

Is there any problem when controlling 6D with the 550D/1100D protocol?

Best regards,
Anat

Hi Anat

Need to try some more but so far it looks to work perfect.
Images are transferred after exposure and saved on the memory card as should be. So it seems to work well.

best regards
Chris

Hi Anat!
Amazing work! I've just installed iAstroHub on my MK808 and it seems to be working but I have one stupid question. Should/can I connect all stuff (DSLR, guide cam and mount)to USBhub plugged to MK808? I dug this thread but I can't find any clear information about that.

Regards
Mikele

Hi Mikele

To connect all the peripherals you will have to use a powered USB hub.

best regards
Chris

Hi Mikele,

Yes. You can connect it through a powered usb hub as Chris mentioned. However, I suggest you connect the mount usb-serial cable to the OTG port. It is better to seperate the slow device from the hi-speed devices in terms of stability.

Best regards,
Anat

Thanks for answers!
Actually I'm sick a bit now so I can't test iAstroHub under the real sky but it does work perfect .

Which version of SkySafari (Android) is optimal? There are 3 different options and I hope that SkySafari Plus is enough?

Regards
Mikele

Yes. The plus is enough. Note that if your mount is not LX200 compatible, you will have to align the mount from Skysafari. For now you need to choose a star near the center to align. The "Align to chart center" feature will be available soon on the next version of Skysafari for Android. The feature is already in SS4 for iOS. I am adding the support for SS4.

Best regards,
Anat

I'm a newbie in linux so I'm sorry for the next stupid question. What is the best way to add your patches and "plate solving files" to the iAstroHub. Can I use .img editors or a kind of remote desktop or there is a simplest way to do that?

[SOLVED] Eh... I've found the instruction on your project site - sorry for that. It must be the illness. I have still a fever.

And another one question/idea... Is it possible to add some kind of control of focusers?

Regards
Mikele

Hi Mikele,

Thank for the idea on the focuser control. I have thought about the focuser control for a while. For now, I want to make sure that the current version is stable for most people before attempting to add another usb device on iAstroHub

Best regards,
Anat

I found that the current version of iAstroHub worked with Skysafari 4 without any modification. Since, SS4 doesn't read the camera FOV from the setting file, you will have to manually set the telescope focal length and the CCD size ONCE

Then, the CCD frame size, center, and orientation obtained from plate-solving will be correctly shown in Skysafari4. After that, you can align your mount and re-center an object.

Best regards,
Anat

Thank you for answers Anat!

The latest SS4 needs iOS 7 to work so I can't use my iPad 1 anymore. For now I'm using SS on galaxy S4 and iAstroHub does work seamlessly but of course I have an another problem with connecting iAstroHub and the mount. I have a celestron's Advanced VX and there is a serial port (RS232) in a Hand Controller so my question is: should I connect USB OTG port to this serial port or I need to use one of AUX ports on the mount (they are RJ11 (or RJ14) standard I think) ?

Regards,
Mikele

Hi Mikele,

You will have to connect the USB OTG port to the serial port in your handcontroller. I recommend you use the ATEN UC232A USB serial adapter which has the PL2303 chip.

Best regards,
Anat

Hi Anat,
It looks like I need a proper serial adapter. I have one with the PL2303 chip onboard but it was the cheapest cable I found last week . But SkySafari can't connect to iAstroHub - is it ok with the wrong cable? Do I have to use the default port or switch to something different? Yes I know I'm a bit annoying
But apart from my problems I'm really exited. Your project will save a lot of frustration for many people like me under the clear sky;)

Probably we will be busy tomorrow so greetings from Poland and Happy New Year!

Regards,
Mikele

I have one of these PL2303 adapters which is recognized as a GSM modem. It doesn't work! It is better to grab the ATEN UC232S adapter from Ebay.

I can't find a uc232S, I can only find uc232A, is it good anyway?

Thanks,
Piero

Hi Piero,

Sorry. It should be the ATEN UC232A adapter.

Best regards,
Anat
