Hello anat,
I am very impressed with your project.
I definitely would like to try iAstrohub but in my country, QHY5 and 6 are not available anymore. I understood I need new version of lin guider for QHY5-II. Do you have plan to release new version including new version of lin guider?
Thanks.

Yes. When Linguider 2.9 is released (should be pretty soon), I will add the support for QHY5-ii. I have one on the way too

Hello Anat

Thank you for the great project and complete documentation.
I plan on building a "SkyFi" Box to remote control the mount from my mobile phone. That should be simple using an RPi with WiFi dongle.

Autoguiding and AP is not planned at the moment... however your setup including plate solving is impressive!

best regards
Chris

Anat,

Would you be able to place a series of links to the pieces of hardware that are required for this project? I would like to purchase your exact setup to reduce any hardware incompatibility issues etc. It would be awesome if you had a device image with it all configured too - but that might be a bit more difficult I suppose. I am just adding an autoguider to my setup and I haven't purchased anything yet - so I am open to suggestions

thanks,

Clark,

Yes. I will post links to components for this project. I will upload the image file soon after making the new package which includes some updates and fixes. Then users will not need to compile anything and they can use VNC to have full access of Linguider to make the initial configuration (camera type, frame size).

A quick update. There is no need to use a serial shutter cable anymore. We can control a Canon DSLR from a single usb cable I compile latest Gphoto which solves the usb timeout and reset issues. So there are three cables to the usb hub: 1) DSLR camera, 2) autoguider, 3) mount. I integrate the plate-solving result to Skysafari to show the scope center and camera orientation in Skysafari

Best regards,
Anat

Anat, Great work on all of this.

Does your (or anybody else) know if there is any work in progress to support a Meade DSI as a guiding camera for Linguider? This setup would be perfect for me if these camera were supported..

A quick update. QHY5Lii works well at 640x480 resolution in Linguider. Many thanks to Andrew (Linguider) and LZR from QHYCCD. I kept QHY5Lii and MK808 guiding for more than 30 hours! CPU load is only 5% and memory usage is about 2%. Linguider is very well optimized!

Tom,

Linguider supports DSI2Pro. The newest version supports GPUSB to sending guiding signals.

Now, the plate-solving result can be shown directly on SkySafari!!! Please enjoy.
http://youtu.be/2kYv98nKM8w
Then you can use Skysafari to re-align the mount and control Goto.

I wonder if this will work with an original DSI or DSI II color. I've got both, but no DSI2Pro

Tom,

linguider only supports qhy5, qhy5ii, qhy6, dsi2pro, pwc (some Philips webcams), and uvc-class imagers.

BTW, Meade DSI imager family's support in the Linux world has been sketchy.

Clear Skies!

A very long time ago, I sent notes off to meade, asking for spec so I could write linux drivers for my dsi-pro. The response was essentially 'go pound sand'. I never persued it any farther, they days of reverse engineering to try create linux support at long gone, I wont go down that route anymore. When I asked for spec on cameras from Starlight Xpress, documents showed up in my email within an hour, and I've never looked back.

I was getting excited about the possibility of using a small board computer to control my DSI as an autoguider and my Canon 450D...

Does anybody know if openphd on linux supports a original Meade DSI or Meade DSI II?

I'm trying to build openphd right now, but it's been a while since I've done any development, so I thought I'd ask.

Keep us posted.

iAstroHub passed the field test last weekend. I could control QHY6 for autoguiding, Canon 40D for capturing and previewing images, and my ZEQ25 for re-alignment from plate-solving and goto via Skysafari. Everything was done from my iPad. I really like armchair astrophotography

The first list image is below:

Nice shot!

Unfortunately, it looks like openphd does not support the Meade cameras. I may get some time to do some work on the Linux DSI stuff that is floating around out there on the net, but it won't be for a few weeks at least.
