M31 here too, after that M51 and M81 & M82 which blew me away.

M 31 and with, some difficulty, M 33 the same night with 7x 50 binos. That was when I first started observing. This was my first great thrill in this and really got me started.

M31, naked eye about 12-13 years old at Emerald Bay Boy Scout camp on Catalina Island. This would have been '63-'64. None of us knew anything but a couple of my friends saw it too. It wasn't until much later that I learned what we'd seen.

It's still naked eye in these parts on moonless nights.
