If you miss the X you can catch this feature a few days later in the WURZELBAUER crater:-)
Are you referring to the line in the crater?

what is the "X" ?
The Lunar X, which is also known as the Werner or Purbach Cross, is an X-shaped clair-obscur illumination effect involving various ridges and crater rims located between the craters La Caille, Blanchinus, and Purbach.

Had a great view with ED80sf, Burgess binoviewer (w/ OCS) and a pair of 20mm binolites. Got a quick video capture using a pocket DVR with dashboard-cam-to-1.25" adapter.
Does anyone have a link to 2013 Lunar X schedule?

I got home at 7:45, crystal clear skies! Ate, put on my warm suit & when out to get set up, not a star to be seen & a glow where the moon was! FOG! Oh well, next month

I didn't know it even existed until I stumbled into this forum. I saw it immediately once I pointed my meager 130mm Newt at the moon. Thanks!

After you view it on the best night try looking at the same spot on the following night. It will give you a better understanding on how the view is formed.

Has anybody seen this new tool from NASA? http://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/vis/a000000/a004000/a004000/ It lets you plug in a date and time and you can see exactly what the moon will look like. It only works for 2013 though.
