I guess we've been pretty lucky down here. Almost every night this month has been clear. Now if I could just motivate myself to get off of Cloudy Nights and set up my scope. Lol!

There sure wasn't to many clear nights this month. Last night and tonight was the clearest and had a full moon to put up with.

Clear at times but very Hazy here - cant image at all as the stars light up the haze and wash out everything... or the moon is full on the only nights when you get decent seeing...

Hauled my scope and everything out to cool down, sky was clear. Went out an hour later for final set-up and...overcast! Hauled everything back in. Daily exercise, I guess. She looks disappointed...

Isn't the first day of winter 21 December? Fall has been fairly clear in SE Louisiana. We deserve it after last fall/winter.

Ha, that's true. I set up a couple nights when the CSC and Accuweather predicted a cloudless sky, only to be fogged out around 10:00. Frustrating...

It has been really bad in this part of Iowa too. The least it could do is rain or snow if it's going to be cloudy, and relieve this drought. All clouds and no precip make dochilie a dull boy.

Well what most people don't know that in Iowa we only have three seasons,
1. Winter
2. Winter
and last,
3. Road Construction

You forgot the growing season......

And to add insult to injury, December is historically a cloudy month in the Great Upper Midwest.

I do seem to be making more gear-related purchases and actually making progress on my various astro projects so it's got some upside......I do miss sunlight.

You'r right....it blows.

When I was exiled to Chicago for 4 years, they told me that they had 4 seasons:

June, July, August and Winter!

And on the other side of the Pacific it's the same, clouds and huge amounts of moisture in the air. Last decent night I can remember was nearly 5 months ago
La Nina ....Where's El Nino when you want it?.

I second Mike in Memphis, and it makes sense. I'm in Central Virginia. You guys need to come 'n join us down in the Mid-Atlantic states. We just recorded the second-driest November in history; virtually every night has been cloudless and crystal clear.

But cold! ##$%& COLD!!!

The area climatology experts are saying we're going to pay for this, however, They're calling for a warm December, until the final week, when the "bottom" is supposed to "drop out" -- giving us a January and February that are supposed to be, so they say, for the record books -- from here up into the Northeast.

My friends in D.C., Philly, NYC and Boston -- you'd better get your observing in, in between the clouds, while you can!

Meade

Had one of the most filthy putrid winters here I can ever remember. My area recorded over 20 rain days in each of May, June, July and August.

Spring was not much better, lots of cloud and muck, and even now as we enter our so-called summer, the forecast calls for 18-20C highs with showers every day We just can't seem to get out of this cycle of regular almost daily onshore winds and cold fronts, it's like a Justin Bieber CD that's stuck on repeat.

Here in North East Ohio, we had the best summer , observing wise, I can remember in years, so I guess a yucky fall was our to be expected.
In fact work schedule interfered more than clouds, lol
