Doc Abe,
I think the most cost effective solution is to wait for the new AT heavy duty Voyager, assuming Mike B can get either the mount head or tripod manufacturer to make an adapter so the two parts are compatable. I assume you saw Mike's post regarding his "silly, but a problem none the less" issue with the parts manufacturers' unwillingness to make adapters.
I wish I had the mega $$$ for a nice binoscope or the European alt-az.

Can't be the same mount, can it? According to the owner, Stellarvue is "waiting for gears" and will be "cranking out" its own mount. The Kunming is a turnkey, complete mount solution. There'd be no reason to wait for parts or crank anything out if it were simply a re-branded product.

Jim

I've been happy with my Giro II-DX. Had a 40 lb 7" refractor with counterweights and it worked like a charm. Right now I use a 9.25" SCT and a 4" triplet side-by-side.
Is there someone producing an aftermarket slow-mo control for the Giro???

Joe Castoro/Binoscope Company makes saddle type mounts- similar to the Helix Hercules with both slo-mo controls and encoders. They can handle big loads.

Well, lo and behold, Vic has just stated that his shop is so busy, he's outsourced the whole MG/MGE project. There ya go...

After seeing that two headed version on the Kunming link, I wish Vic went with it instead of the single head version.

As mentioned, we outsourced this project. KU modified the design to make a dual mount. Our mount has encoders and holds a single telescope. Their mount is not encoder capable but holds two. I originally considered a dual mount option but we did not think the KU design was the answer.
So right now, Paul at KU and I are designing a dual telescope mount that is of comparable size, is more stable than the current KU dual mount, is geared and encoder ready. Stellarvue will hold the exclusive as we have with our current MG and MGE mounts since we are investing in the molds. But the price of the dual mount will be comparable with the MG.

The improvements you've made, particularly the axial encoders, sound awesome. A very intriguing mount. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I've been toying with adding encoders to my Lapides modded Teegul, but this looks like a better option.

Well thats cool for those who want encoders but I would not mind the stock mount he lists on the UO page. I have been thru the Vixen porta mounts and the Voyagers, both are nice and have slow mos but other than a 80mm scope and I think these mounts were designed around that, there OK. I had the Orion SV Alt/Az pro mount and it did hold two scope real well but no slow mos. Maybe I should just contact Kuming and see if they sell samples directly. Sorry Vic but I dont need to pay for your final QC, with mounts its very easy to figure them out and make most adjustments on my own and I still have a few good tripods laying around to be used with plus I feel the MG mount is a wee bit overpriced for something that is relabled from far east suppliers.
