Looks pretty solid to me. Is the dog attached to the front ring to provide some extra help to the drive motor?

Hey George! I'm looking at purchasing the same mount--can you give a quick synopsis of your initial experience with this one (setup, alignment, portability)? Thanks a ton!

Nobody said they have to be new mounts, right?
Recently purchased Cave 2 1/2" shaft "Observatory" mount. As found, with a 12.5" f/7 OTA on it and transportable pier under it:
The dirt is a non-original accessory. I plan to remove that!

WOW! There are a lot of setups in here. I recently bought this Galileo 135DX from a pawn shop Of course it does not have a Handbox Controller. Would anyone here have any ideas on where I can find a Handbox Controller? I think Galileo has gone out of business. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd imagine you could mount a chair along with the scope and might as well ride along

Here is my updated Schaefer GEM. I have added a Losmandy 492 stepper drive, replaced the dec tangent drive with 180 tooth worm drive, and replaced the fixed saddle plate with a dovetail clamp.

This is a one armed pipe /fork mount I made years ago for my astroscan. I put setting circles on it.. as well as brakes and mounted it to an old tripod. There is a line on the tripod leg to bring it to 42 degrees.

I got the idea years ago (late 80's) when I saw pictures of a C90 or C5 Astro and they had the fork but only on one side. And after looking at (of all things) Sam Brown's book "all about telescopes".. and having some odds and ends available where I worked.. I drew it up and made it work. At one point I made a PVC tripod for the Astroscan (I think it was from Astronomy.. a long time ago) but while it was very cheap to make.. i didnt like it as much as the equatorial. at least all i had to do was track it one way..
so can anyone figure out how to add a clock drive to this???
