Curious, says 40lb capacity.

Could a DM6 handle a C14 ?

Jae:

The 40 lb capacity is very conservative. Tammy's WO FLT 152 pictured on the 1st page of this thread is ~45 lbs and others are mounting 7" refractors on the DM-6. Here are some pics:

As solid as it feels, I would think it could hold it. But none of my scopes approach that weight so I can't really say.

The DM-6 certainly seems to have its followers. What exactly makes this superior to other AltAz mounts?

I am just a new owner, but the construction is first rate, the motions are smooth, no weights are required to balance the mount, accepts encoders and Sky commander, different configurable options, and adaptable to many good quality tripods.

Many others may also have these features, but I felt that this one was best for my refractor.

I also have a DM-6. It is attached to a used G-11 tripod. I added the G-11 extension tube so I'm not lying down while viewing near zenith.
It handles my TEC160ED very easily. I agree that the heavier the OTA, the smoother the motion.

This thing is VERY stable.

Really cool pipe mount!
One of the most bang for buck ways to mount a scope.
