The office. George, of A-P, spent an hour with me to go over everything thoroughly. Excellent customer service. From ordering to pick-up was only two weeks....

Finally, a 1-minute shot of the M27 region at 3200 ISO. This after spending about an hour polar aligning. I used several iterations of the 'two-star' method in the manual. No drift alignment was done.

Photo is through my 1988 AP 6" f/8 @ 1200mm focal length.

The shot appears to lack any drift - this will allow me to shoot subs.....

The mount is solid and the go-to is very consistent. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Dave

Yes what a shame. Send it to me and I'll clean it up for you. Expect Meade re-call turn-around times.

Indeed. Very nice setup Dave. IMHO, the Mach1 if not already there, will be considered one of the classics with its design and performance. Enjoy your mount...

Cangrats on the new mount, Dave.

I consider my Mach 1 to be a 'lifetime' purchase and I have never had any trouble rationalizing the cost to myself. The incredible performance and consistency of the mount still bring a smile to my face every night I get to use it.

Cheers,

Ron

So how busy were the AP offices?

The family atmosphere of that company is about the only example I know if where such a claim was true.

Thanks for the replies, folks. It's always nice to get some positive reinforcement after a big layout of cash....

The OkieTex dust is fine, like talcum powder and sticks to all surfaces. Especially troubling is how it sticks to the rubber housing of the Hand Controller. I had to use a lint roller to get it off there.

At AP's offices I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. You have to be 'buzzed in' just to get to the reception area - it's not at all a retail operation. The front office is as my photo shows - two women garrison the front office and all the rest must be out back somewhere, making stuff. George was very helpful in spending a while with me to show me everything I needed to know about setting up and running the mount. No Roland sighting....

Dave
