Surprised to see many portable usage.
Curious what pier are you guys going to use.
Will the 6" Eagle Adjustable Folding Pier too small for 1100 ?

Portable here too. No it needs the 8" pier. I bought that already from AP and I put it on a JMI wheely bar setup.

The Eagle is too small for the 8" base mounts... it would be awesome if AP would make a bigger Eagle type tripod though!

Gents, did you order this with the absolute encoders? I passed for now. If I get more into imaging maybe I can add them down the road.

I passed on the AEs due to their high cost. I also switched my order since initiating this thread.

I recently began an observatory so the portability issue sort of "went away."

I had AP ship me a 1600. It arrived a few hours ago, setting some kind of record for shipping expediency. From upstate IL to rural NS, including customs clearance in Montreal, all in about 45 hours. Good job, FedEX!!!

No need for you guys to get all effusive in your gratitude for effectively bumping you up the list for the 1100 by changing my order.

We all know I had dibs on the first AP1100 to ship.

Not me since my setup is always portable. Absolute encoders are probably best for permanent setup.

Also, it's very pricey.

Peter

I got my first notice for my AP1100 today, to be shipped in February! So excited! Guess I'll need to order it now...

I put my name on the list in early October...
