Hi John,
The skies were pretty steady down here. While the scope was cooling, I got a chance to view Jupiter & the Moon, which were both side-by-side in the western horizon. I made the rounds to M42 and such while waiting for Saturn to get above the trees, which was around 11am.
But by 3am, fog/clouds started moving in.
Friday & Saturday night both look promising

Oh yeah, tonight looks good too, but with another cool front pushing through on Thursday, Friday & Saturday are looking both dry & clear.

Hi all,
it looks like i might finally get out for a few hours tonight, its been a while since my last night in the obs so looking forward to it, despite the fact i have the flu and will need to wrap up warm, my other half keeps giving me that look that says "idiot"
Hopefully and despite clear skies predicted, i hope to image M51 as one target, that is if the mists and fogs hold off which i seem to attract more often than not, fingers crossed
Off to prep the obs,
regards
Tom.

Spent a little time out myself. I caught the moon with Jupiter off to the left of it, both looked good with the 13mm Hyperion EP, It was around 6-30pm and both were low in the sky. Still I enjoyed the time out just chasing stars across the sky looking no where in particular but seeing every thing at the same time.....
Hi Geoff, Glad you manage to get out yourself and catch a view of the two day old Moon. What were the seeing conditions like with you?.
The Moon and Jupiter looked good naked eye together in the West. The Moon was just too far West for me at 18.40 as I am restricted beyond 250deg. I only just caught Jupiter. I wanted to catch the young Moon too, as I rarely get the chance to view it at that phase.
Regards. Peter.
The seeing was not too bad, though with both the moon and Jup, being low in the sky I did get a touch of interference. Once I climbed a bit higher it became much better, I think the rain from the night before may have helped in clearing the atmosphere...

Hi John, Is the strobe show an annual event or was it a one off.
Regards. Peter.
I'd like to think it was a one-off, but I know better. However, I don't often get that much twinkling, so I guess I should not complain.

I got out last night for a few hours. The sky was clear and the transparency was good. Since there's a 1/2 Moon, I decided to split some doubles, which is always pleasing
I checked out Beta Mon and was able to use my 3mm-6mm zoom set at 6mm to split it. I also split it with the 9T6, but pushing it to 6mm was too cool. First time using that high of a mag and still getting clear views.
This scope still continues to impress me.

Pretty lousy seeing tonight. Stars were boiling to the naked eye. Lot of turbulence. Couldn't get a good focus on Saturn with any eyepiece. Still waiting for a night good enough to see Cassini's division....did pick up three, perhaps four moons tonight, though.

Got out as well and Saturn was the target. While focus wasn't great there were a couple short periods that things got significantly better and I could make out some ring details. High mag certainly wasn't the best last night but I'm still amazed every time I see it.

We are still very overcast in the North of England, with both rain and snow showers on a daily basis.. Not a snowballs chance in hell of observing any thing. Still they say it will get better, They just won't say WHEN.....

It's a bit Iffy here in Yorkshire but it may be good enough an hour with Lunar tonight, if it holds.

Clear in huddersfield again for the second sunday in a row. So, experimenting autoguiding a ST80 with a SPC900 on a AS-GT via PHD. Got it working at last. Next step, attach st80 to C8-NGT.

Clear also here in Leeds. After what I thought were Iffy skies it cleared up and conditions turned out to be excellent.I spent a wonderful 4 hours observing.
And what Geoff said.

Hi Graham,
I missed Saturn last night. I started my session around 18.30 and called it a day around 22.30. Saturn at that time is still too low in the East for me. I could have waiting the other half hour or so for Saturn to be viewable, but there's always another night, besides, after 4 hours, I was ready for a break.
Pleased you manage to see Saturn and you were happy with what you saw.
Regards. Peter.

Hi Peter I started at 1130, having been out all evening, just for a quick peep as it was clear. Did a sky align with the 5SE and was only going to spend 30 mins or so looking around and trying to take pics of the moon. Saturn was a surprise and after 2hrs trying this lens and that, I had to call it a day. I was cold but a very happy bunny. Will have another go tonight and try the NexImage. Must capture those rings.
