Definitely curious about all of this. Timing couldn't have been better. I've been starting Astronomy outreach efforts within the local school system here, and helping where I can with WSSP and other events. I'm getting the general idea of what's being unveiled here and looking forward to hearing more. An easy to use network for people to interface quickly through is absolutely the way to go in this day and age.

If you need some tropical representation, count me in. I can try to coordinate any activity with my local group, the Caribbean Society of Astronomy.

I want to hear about the bicycle trailer idea. Summertime there's no place to park at the beach where I like to set up for outreach, and it's only a mile away. :-)

I’m certainly excited about anything that supports Astronomy outreach. I look forward to what this effort has to offer.
At Kopernik Observatory near Binghamton NY ( link ) we have been doing outreach since 1974, and now have a $2 mil science center with RC20, C14, and AP 6-inch scopes under domes, plus other scopes like 8-inch Dobs. Just last night we had a public program featuring a post Doc researcher from Cornell U discussing “cutting edge astronomy”. The week before, we had an Astronomy professor from Binghamton U who presented a program on the latest in IR astronomy.
The NASA Night Sky Network ( link ), supported by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, has a membership that must include hundreds of astronomy clubs. In addition to their information and scheduling website connected with NASA, they offer free educational kits developed by ASP specifically for amateur astronomers giving public programs. The kits are excellent, and provide free components like lenses, DVDs, posters, etc. The NASA NSN also offers (for members) free call-in web presentations by professional astronomers, that include download PowerPoints, etc. The phone calls are free to members.

Hey guys, Thanks for all the tips and offers for help. We will keep everyone updated as to what is coming. After NEAF, a lot more information will be passed on, etc.
Thanks!

I sure do miss my Tulsa area astro-buddies! I moved out here to North Carolina back in 2003 and have never found a group like the Tulsa Astronomy Club. The Mid-Atlantic Star Party here in NC has been great, but I've always had regrets that I never made it out to Okie-Tex back when I lived in Tulsa. Regardless, count me in for outreach activities. I've been working with a local middle school where my wife teaches here in Greensboro for the last couple of school years with monthly observing sessions. Should be fun! Clear Skies all!

OK. I'm in. Our club does a great deal of outreach each year. Would be fun to coordinate our efforts. Had a chance yesterday at the local "Earth Day" celebration. Showed a lot of folks what the spots look like on our local star. Lot of fun.

I'm confused, on Page-1 of the thread, we were advised that checking out the Astronomics booth at NEAF would reveal more info.
So a couple of us online via the CN NEAF webcam asked about this, but the on-camera CN crew didn't know much about this..,
When do we get more information?

We are in the process of linking websites, etc. so that information is easier to pass along. The main thing the network is for is to get information, "how to's", program recommendations and more out to the various participants. I hope to have all of this up here on Cloudy Nights as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.
