Hopefully it'll be clear here in Tomahawk.
The Sky Tools 3 simulation shows it beginning at 5:08pm and lasting past sunset. Thankfully there won't be a need to set the alarm clock this time (i have a bad allergy to those things ). Last time, the clouds at sunrise only allowed a 10 minute view but hey, at least i got to see it.

Curt,
I used SkyTools 3 to make a transit path for my local (46°23', 86°40'). It does't seem to have the "hook" that yours have. Not sure why the difference?

There’s nothing wrong with your image, PJ. It appears to be formatted in equatorial coordinates, i.e. celestial north is toward the top. Please reread my first post in this thread for a description of the coordinates that I utilized. The Earth’s rotation produces the curved hook.

Well I just thought I would give this a quick bump... I have been looking for a scope to travel with. I am really considering the AT72 with the Voyager mount. Anyone else been thinking about a solar filter or anything. I really want to get this scope ordered once I get my Christmas bonus... I am just concerned there will be a dash for filters as the transit draws near.

Can I put in a request for someplace like Vancouver or Seattle? Or how would I interpolate from Anchorage?

Hmmm, Brent, your location is listed as Florida. Averaging the Anchorage and San Francisco illustrations and timings should be sufficient for observers in Vancouver or Seattle. However, if I get a large number of requests for those or other cities, I’ll add them well before June.

Seattle, Vancouver, Anchorage, aren't these places known for cloud, rain fog?
I had thought about moderate travel but I'm going to stay here, central Canadian Prairies as we have clear sky most of the time, if we do get cloud I should be able to drive out from under them.

Can anyone weigh in with advice on observing the transit from high altitude in Hawaii versus observing it from northern Australia in the areas said to have very low risk of cloud cover? The sun will be higher in the sky if viewed from Hawaii. Can one count on being above the clouds up on Mauna Kea? If one leaves out the expense and time involved, what's the best place to be for this last in our lifetime event? Thanks.

Terrific, thank you!
It should be good from New Mexico, and the weather will be terrific as the event is 1 month ahead of the monsoons.

Well for being such a gracious southern gentleman, Charles, I’ve created a transit preview graphic for Nashville: www.CurtRenz.com/venustransit . My Raleigh chart was only recently added at the request of my brother who lives there.

Early morning for me - but I'm going out to Cyprus as that adds an hour to the period I can observe and the clear sky stats are favourable at 90%!
Give us a shout when you are set to arrive, we (Cyprus Astronomical Society) have just started to organize the observing get-together for the transit...

Everybody is always welcome at my place in Hawaii, Waipahu... Have a big roof and lots of telescopes, 3 mounts, 3 reflectors and 3 refractors and a DFK21/DBK618 and DMK618 with filters and regular solar filter for the Meade or C14 but so far no Solar scope will get one by then (H alpha)...

The oddest place to watch this is either north Iceland or north Norway. In the first the transit starts before sunset and is still going at sunrise. In norway you can watch the whole transit as the midnight sun skims 2 degrees over the northern horizon
The catch - clears skies are not very likey
I'm going to Cyprus again where I watched the whole transit in 2004. This time we get the last 2 hours after sunrise. Here there is a 90% chance of clear skies
Just as a reminder - this was 7.5 years ago ... a composite with Venus at 90 minute intervals taken through my then brand new Coronado 60mm H-alpha filter - Paphos Cyprus
