A pair of Apogees - 127mm and 102mm. Both around f/6.5 and resting on a Meade LXD650. It will handle both for OK for visual use, but I don't mount them like this very often. It usually has a C6-R or an AT80EDT/Zenithstar 66SD combo. But the blue scopes are pretty.

It's a sky-watcher 9x50 finder scope, I just unscrewed the eyepiece and fit the autoguider in place with some electrical tape on the inside. (It's a perfect fit!)
I think the scope is about 200mm in focal length (f/4).

Hello from the other side of the country,
Beautiful setup. How do you find the autoguider works with the 9x 50. I am thinking about trying the same thing. I have basically the same setup as you and I don't want to go with a big guide scope that would add extra weight for the mount to deal with. Do you use a flattener? I haven't tried my hand at the photograpy side yet but hopefully soon.
Good Luck

Here are my old and new Televues: a 20-year old Genesis (non-sdf) that helped pioneer wide-field 4-inch apos, and my NP127is that I recently decided to take the plunge on.
Notwithstanding all the debate of whether going from 4- to 5-inch is worthwhile, for me I can definitely say Im happy I did, all the way. I havent had the opportunity for extensive comparison yet, and the weather lately has varied from pretty average to awful. All the same, the NP127is is a significant leap ahead compared to the Genesis. The Genesis is no slouch on Jupiter, but the 127 shows a lot more cloud belt detail with greater brightness the image with my Pentax 7mm XW plus 2.5 Powermate (235x) is very sharp. In the Genesis, Ive always noticed its slight false color when just approaching focus the NP127is on the other hand has no false color, zilch, none! This is purely subjective, but I find the NP127is performance at least twice as nice compared to the Genesis, and thats saying something.
When I was first acquired the NP127is, I was very surprised how more substantial it feels compared with the 4-inch. The slightly stumpy design and naked focusmate gives the scope quite a rugged look - the Genesis is downright petite side by side. Im very glad I stuck with TV and the NP127is; its minimal weight for size, compactness, fast optics, superb focusmate, favorable optics weight distribution, inherent flat field, and good looks are all winners these factors are worth the extra outlay IMHO.
The LXD75 mount is certainly the minimum required to handle the NP127is, and I can just note some motor drive jitter at high magnification tracking, whilst there was none with the Genesis. An (overdue) evening spent on readjustment and tightening both RA & Dec worms and motors has helped a lot though. Whether or not I decide to upgrade to an HEQ5 Pro is for future thought; the LXD75s low weight has a lot going for it.

Here's my set up. New SW 100ED. Still need to mount my WO 66mm petzval on top for manual guiding. I'd like to eventually get the SW80ED to replace it though. I like things to match! I love this mount. It's an older SW HEQ-5 non-goto. Looks identical to Orion's Sirius.

What a great setup Gary! Nice scope and the rolling work area is very nice. Did you have to do any work on the GEM to get it operating smoothly? The KONUS mount for the 80mm took a lot of work to get it operating smoothly. I still have some slop in the dec axis. It takes ~ 10 seconds after I press the dec button for the dec drive to engage. Where in Tucson are you? I'm over here at Ft Lowell Park (Craycroft and Glenn). I wish I had a backyard like yours.

Hi Edward. Thanks. The only thing I did with the mount was to add the cable bracing to cut down on the vibration. I bought it used from Frank Lopez over at Stellarvision. I live out west of town, just south of Old Tucson. Can see Kitt Peak and Mount Hopkins from my driveway

Yeah, my Genesis has given me so much over 2 decades, I feel guilty about thinking of selling it. The NP127 has made quite a financial dent, but the emotional attachment for my Genesis is also a consideration... Fox

This is my 40yo 5" F5 mounted on a wheeled cart with a 1" ply alt/az mount and setting circles. I purchased the Jaeger lens and cell and mounted them plus an internal diagonal in an aluminum tube with baffles plus a homemade tube carrier to allow rotation. A Tectron EP holder completes the scope. The diag is fully adjustible for collimation.

Hi All, ok for a newbie from England to join in? Here is my Tal125R five inch achromat with flared tube. I also have its' little brother, the 100RS. Both built in Siberia, both with great, sharp objectives for achros.
Previous owner took these shots, the brass large focus wheels were turned specially buy his friend, they are very smooth and give great micro adjustment.
I have the scope on my CG-5 with 2" stainless legs, a nice combination.
hope you like it.

Hi Rob, thanks for your kind comments, yes she's a beauty, and views as good as she looks..
If you are interested in Tals there is a great article on CN right now by a fellow Britisher (and a proud Scot I think!) called Neil English..it's called " a little piece of Russian Magic" I think, you should find it easily enough..it's a great read, and Neil is planning a book next year all about Refractors - achros, apos, semi-apo (whatever that is) etc etc Take a look and clear skies to you.
best regards Dave

Greg-Nice scope! The focuser is an improvement, certainly for visual use. How do you like the tripod? I've got a Giro III that I use on a Gibralter tripod with my two refractors and find it jittery at moderately high power.

Hi guys,
Just chimed in. For the record Dave Tinning's claim that I'm a fellow Britisher and proud Scot are both untrue. I'm actually Irish, living in Scotland with English as surname! Thanks for the plug all the same Dave and keep those images coming!

After getting this C80ED with a beat-up tube, funky focuser, and bent tube clamp, I found the optics to be first rate so I decided to fix it up. I sanded and painted the tube, put on a GSO crayford, and already had some decent tube rings. The threads on the Agena focuser adapter were way different than the threads on the tube, I guess some were. So I filed off the tube threads and epoxied the adapter on. So now it's all fixed up.

The threads on the Agena focuser adapter were way different than the threads on the tube, I guess some were. So I filed off the tube threads and epoxied the adapter on. So now it's all fixed up.

Nice to see another C80ED Brad. And I see you also have the Hyperion 8-24mm Click Zoom on it.
I also use the Hyperion Click Zoom on mine.

Hi All, ok for a newbie from England to join in? Here is my Tal125R five inch achromat with flared tube. I also have its' little brother, the 100RS. Both built in Siberia, both with great, sharp objectives for achros.
Nice Tal 125R Dave, I'd love to own one myself. Never saw it for sale on this side of the pond though. I was able to buy one of the last Tal 100RS's sold over here and it is a very good achro with sharp optics!

Here's my latest, and last refractor acquisition. I picked up this APM/TMB-152 from Bo (Bwaz here on CN) when he upgraded to his new TEC-160FL this summer. That's what I'd call a win-win

haha Adam! Actually the next arrival is my 22" Webster due sometime next spring and you're right, it's in the ballpark of a 7" apo. At this time, the scope I use the most is the FS-102 that I bought from you Adam. The size, weight, cool-down and ease of use make it an easy scope to get out observing with quickly. Once I acquired your FS-102 I realized that there's redundancy between my 3, 4 and 5 inche scopes. I will keep the TV-85 because it is an easy carry-on size for airline travel so that leaves the 102 and the 127. For me there's not enough difference in aperture to justify owning both, and that's what led me to pick up a 6" - something with a material increase over the 4" with the intent of selling the 127. Before I put the 127 up for sale I thought it would be fun to do a side-by-side comparison before it leaves my kit. I need to get my mounts sorted first then I will do a comparo with the 127 and the 152.

Hmm...
Somehow that optical tube looks a little familiar, Bill! Here is my LZOS-152 ready for imaging (less a few cables to keep so my wife won't complain about the "cluttered" look in the living room). The guide scope is a Lomo 80/480 and the mount is a Mach1. The weight limit on the mount is supposed to be 45 pounds; luckily, Roland is pretty conservative in rating these things since my rig is closer to 55 pounds all in.

The LOMO scope also serves as my "grab and go" on a nice little Tak Teegul SP mount, so it's not nearly as silly as it seems! The guide rings are Losmandy and the dovetail plate is a Farpoint copy of the standard Losmandy plate (I liked their finish a bit better--I think they were the same price). I believe the rings on the main scope are Parallax, but they came used with the APM/TMB/LZOS scope so I can't confirm that for sure.

Hi Mike, Thanks for putting that pic up. I just purchased a FS128 and have been looking for a mount. Looks as if i will go down the EQ6 path.
So you find the mount handles your scope just fine?

Hi David,
Yes its an excellent and sturdy match for the 128, but i had issues with the standard EQ6,due to micro vibrations at powers of x200 up.This does not seem to be a problem with the upgraded stepper motors in the Syntrek/Synscan version,of which i decided to go for the Syntrek. For planetary,i do not need go-to.
Mike So you find the mount handles your scope just fine?

Beautiful setups. What's the total weight with the AP900?
Sorry I didn't visit this thread for some time. The ATS pier is around 30 lbs, the AP900 is, I dunno, maybe 30 lbs, but the counterweight and shaft will add, I dunno, maybe 15 or 20 lbs to that, but of course all these parts screw on you don't carry them at once. So where we at? 100 lbs?
The ATS pier is very light. The marine battery power supply is the heaviest single part of my equipment.

Greg-Nice scope! The focuser is an improvement, certainly for visual use. How do you like the tripod? I've got a Giro III that I use on a Gibralter tripod with my two refractors and find it jittery at moderately high power.
Hi Adam, thank you for your comments. The FS128 is indeed a nice scope. I have seen two or three Gibraltars in action and I'm afraid my bottom line view is that Televue did not put their best thinking into that one. I see you're not using the standard Gibraltar head, and went for the heaviest duty Giro, so that's smart. But to answer your question, the Berlebach is rock solid with the FS128, whatever the power. Damping time is too fast to really estimate. I think you would find it a big step up. I don't really know how it rates price wise compared to the Gibraltar.
I find it easier to set up than the G11 tripod. (I assume you're talking about the Berlebach tripod and not the ATS pier in a lower photo).
