Hi Francois
Have you finally received your Lunt Doublet?
I am considering a similar purchase (either the 70mm or 80mm) for a trip in December.

Hi Francois,
Read your review. Great work!
BTW - who is your dealer? I would love to see a 70 or 80 mm and weight them.
Thanks

Was your telescope available off the shelf? Or did you have to wait for it? Did you have to pay shipping?
Thank you,
Charlie Geiger

Thanks Jon, I was going to get an AT72 sometime soon, but that 80mm has me rethinking.

Just google for "First impression of the Lunt 102 ed" if the link below doesn't work for some reason.

I've been thinking about a 72mm for a while and Astronomics seems like the best deal around. So, why would I buy a Lunt 70mm for more money, a single focuser and no metal case? Is it something to do with solar viewing?

No, I would say that is just marketing. But just judging from the prices of the three Lunt refractors, I think my question would be: why buy the 70mm when the 80mm is just $50 more?

That never made sense to me either. Good prices on the 80mm and the 102ED though.

The 70mm is much more compact than the 80mm (420mm FL vs 560mm). If size is a premium, then why spend an extra $50 for only 10mm additional aperture while increasing the OTA length by over 5"?

I think the issues is that the Lunt 80mm at $450 is a real bargain in comparison to what else is available. At $400, the 70mm Lunt is competing against scopes like that AT-72ED which are somewhat less expensive.

Canadian Telescopes has both the 70&80mm ED listed at $419.99CDN with free shipping. Not sure if it's an error nor have I ever dealt with them.
