All the documents came with the original envelope from TMB Optical, and a pair of stickers sporting the TMB logo, for the dew shield.

The Lens in Cell came without a tube, so the original owner had a good one made. It has it's fair share of rubs, chips, and cover-ups, but no dings or major problems.
The lens is untouched: no damage.

I am considering a make-over for the OTA assembly.
New paint? if so, classic white, or other? Smooth or pebbled? Who would you recommend for the Job?
A new tube assembly, perhaps? Who is best suited to do this?
Is the focuser fine as is, or should I give Starlight Instruments a call?

Your input, please!

Enjoy John! If you've used the 480, you'll really come to appreciate the reduction in curvature of field in the 600....and with a .8x reducer/flattener, it's an effective 480mm.

I've never seen an 80/600 in the flesh; the lens cell is very different than my 80/480. I'm wondering if all the 80/600s used this style cell w/push-pull adjustable flange rather than the screw-on 80/480 cell. This one is #1 but did they stay with this design?

Both the 80/480 and 80/600 cells are identical. You have a choice of whether to use the push/pull flange or not. The flange is a removable part that simply screws on to the back of the lens cell.
