That's a neat setup. I'm curious to learn more about it. What sort of mount is that and what's its capacity? Do all those scopes point at the same thing? Can you make adjustments to allignment the scopes on the same target?
What is the hardware underneath?

Not mine, somebody sent me that picture and it has been in my files for several years. Obviously most of the scopes and the mount appear to be made by William Optics.

In respect to the question asked. I have mounted stuff both ways, side by side and piggyback. Both have their balance challenges. If piggyback you are adding still additional weight even further away from the RA rotational axis requiring even more weight.

The picture below is of my Brandon 130mm f/8 apo which was in my possession from 1992 to 2005. I was the second owner of the tube assembly which you see mounted on a Losmandy G11 (one of the first purchased in 1992). I added the 3" guide scope which I built from Unitron parts. Also pictured on this setup is a "rich-field" 60 mm scope as well as the Brandon 40 mm finder (Brandon sourced their component parts - cells, focusers, tubes, fittings from the same source that supplied Unitron). The two tubes that I put together (the 3" photo-guide scope and the 60mm rich field were painted with Rustoleum "Harbor Blue" which is a close match. Total payload weight was 33 lbs. This and the fairly long moment arm really tended to push the G11 mount close to it's limit, not over it, but close to it.

Since I sold the scope in 2005 I believe it has had at least two more owners.

The alignment of the two 'scopes as shown in that photo posted above was pretty darned close. I cut thin pieces of packaging plastic into rectangular pieces and experimented by placing a couple of them between the bottom edge of the front rings and dovetail rail of the 102 refractor. I got the alignment almost perfect and was quite happy with myself. After the scopes moved to the opposite side of the mount, the alignment wasn't as perfect so I went back to the drawing board and wound up replacing the rings with these. Perfect alignment is now as easy as adjusting a 50mm finder to its OTA. I intend to get another photo the next time I'm out, but the weather in NE Ohio isn't exactly solar-viewing-friendly at the moment. One will follow, I promise.
