I clamp a 4 x 8 ft sheet of 3/4" foam sheathing insulation to the fence with 2 spring clamps to block a neighbor's outside lamp. Lightweight, waterproof, easy up, easy down

Josh, Do you have and are willing to share the hand controller/joystick conversion .ini file you wrote? I have almost the same equipment and could use a little help with scope control via the Sidewinder.

I also posted in the ATM, DIY section about using the hinged flap from a VHS tape to make a Sun finder.

Picked up a plastic tray at the hardware store lined it with left over pluck foam and covered with that rubber mat stuff my wife uses in our kitchen drawers. Attached it below my eyepiece tray on the CGEM. Gives me a place to set filters and my eyeglasses. Also wired it to run the dew heaters.

The strap is to help carry the scope from the garage to the driveway.

Hi everyone,
I've posted elsewhere on CN forums, but probably not here. Can anyone please recall for me the thread about plastic caps off of household products that work as dust covers for EP's, scopes, etc.? It's a goodie, but I forgot to mark it! Many thanks!
John

That was a good thread, and I didn't mark it either, but a lid off a "Pringles" potatoe chip container was a good fit for my 60mm Carton refractor.

I did the same thing but with a different container. The lid on an oatmeal "tin" fit on my 4" achromat with only a couple rounds of painter's tape to snug it up.

Here's a light and wind block I created from clothes hangar, tarp, and zip ties. I have three total created. I'll use glow in the dark paracord and tent stakes to secure with wind.

Just the other day, I was in Target looking for a chess set and found this poker set with an aluminum case for $11.00. Looks to be perfect for my modest collection of 1.25 ep's and barlow. Don't think it would fit 2" but there is a larger poker set for $10 more that looks like it would.

Thanks for the idea for using the VCR tape flap as a solar finder. I used an unneeded 2" telrad riser as the mounting bracket and your idea was a perfect solution for a solar finder on 2 of my scopes that use telrads my 5i and 12" dob. Here are some quick pictures of my setup.
I also used the solar filter that normally sits on a 50mm raci finder when I'm using my 90mm refra when doing solar observing with my full aperture glass filter.I cut an offset hole in the normal metal correcter plate cover of the 5i inserted a PVC pipe adapter with threaded end and nut silicone sealed both sides sprayed everything black. The whole unit fits snugly in the OTA. I also used a conduit pipe hanger and steel clamp and 1/4 20 knob to fashion a Quick photo tracking mount, still to be tried out.
I love being cheap.
Be Well
Grey
