Yes Hilmi!! Very true. My old Meade DS10 was my first scope to show me deep sky objects. Far from the prettiest scope - but it opened up my eyes to thousands of beautiful sights in the night sky. Made a lot of friends with it too.

I still have it but seldom use it now as I've moved on to more modern and "pretty" scopes.

More or less the opposite of the subject of this thread.

Pretty? No. Great mechanicals? Nope. Good optics? No, not really. But lots of great memories.

I am partial to my "Classic Black Celestrons" -- half the reason I collected them was because I've always liked the looks of them (the other half was how well they work)

I like my AT 72ED. I was amazed at the price, especially after I actually got to see and use it: great views, and a fantastically smooth focuser! I opted for the admittedly boring white and gray tube, but it comes in blue, black, green, red, and even pink.

I am interested in seeing more of the scope that you have the AT72ED mounted on. Curious too about the handles/mounting rails on that larger red scope. Picture please!

.....he is partial to the "Purple Planet Eater". Maybe not the best telescope in my stable, but it sure is the prettiest!

English is not my first language and I don't understand some subtilities . To me an uncle is the brother of my mother and he's very cool and intelligent ! Could you explain what YOU mean by that ???

When someone cries out "Uncle", it means they concede a contest to the other person.

Stunning telescope and mount, by the way.

Yes, all of those scopes are very pretty. Tie ribbons and bows on them and take them to the fair. I like what Jon said.

Rather steampunk in its aesthetic approach. I'll concede it's interesting and very beautiful in its own way, even though my own tastes run far more toward the sparse, clean-lined approach of Scandanavian aesthetics.

Until recently, I owned two from your Classic Black lineup. Now, only one.
