Do you think it is time to start the "Pacific NW Mt St Helens EternaThread Pt 6"? Unless we are going for a record page number or something.
You must have been reading my mind, telenewbie, as I was close to starting a Pt 6 thread.
I've the locked Pt 5 thread – 2,400 is a nice round number to close it on.
I sure hope those clouds clear out for you guys in the Pacific Northwest. I have a son who lives in Washington.

I wonder how long it will take everyone to find the new thread. My new mount showed up yesterday. Here is a picture of the tripod box... I was concerned needlessly. It ended up fine.

Practically every tripod box shipped to me has had some damage to it..those things are heavy.
Sean, was that the new EQ1 lightweight tripod you got?

Yep, 3 1/2" of rain here yesterday, and it only took about 12 hours to fall .... which makes a total of 18.15" for the March!
Even the slugs are surly these days.

How can a guy tell?
Records are being set, none of which are at my finnertips. I heard on the radio this morning (Cliff Mass interview) that Spokane has surpassed most rainfall in March, with records going back to 1891. There was also mention, which I didn't quite hear, about some kind of record rain at Seatac airport yesterday.
Cliff Mass also mentioned that the pineapple express is going to be drowning No. Cal. & So. Ore. tomorrow. He said up in W. Wash., after today's slender relief, it'll be really wet until a break around a week from Sunday.
Are we having fun yet?

I don't think so. Maybe. It is pretty big. Here is a pic.

For scale the legs are 4" wide. This is the source of the rain. Sorry.

Sean,
You're putting together a nice batch of equipment there. I expect you'll be itching to get some clear weather this spring to try it out.

Reading this thread has me fiending for a hookup with my old astro buds. This miserable rain just has to stop sometime - maybe..........
I heard a new description of the seasons in the Northwest. July & August are now called Summer. September and October are Fall. Nov., Dec., Jan., and Feb are called Winter. March thru June are now called Disappointment.
It's just too true.

You know it. I have tried the scope on a wobble crazy mount and was impressed with it. A couple times the whole setup could have tipped over had i not been paying attention. I decided that i wouldn't risk it again and waited for the new mount.
Kerry, the tripod is a Canadian Telescope heavy duty wooden tripod. It may be a rebranded tripod and have some equivalent from skywatcher and others. It is pretty and seems solid. It also has a back strap for easy transport. Did the picture get modded? It was up last night but, i can't see it now.

I know what you mean. I was very disappointed when last weekend didn't work out. The part for my car still hasn't come in and i have spent $170 in gas in the last 6days driving my truck. I really need to get some dark sky time in soon. And going with you guys is far more fun. I hope we get a chance before pixieland or this is going to be a rough couple months.
