Merry Christmas!!!!!
Wishing all the MSHSP Guys and Gals a Happy Holiday and Prosperous 2013!!!
Family and work commitments required a longer than expected sabbatical from astro activities this past 8 months but I am optimistic that 2013 will bring more nights under the skies and with my online community - missed you all.
I hope everyone is doing well and hope to see you all again soon!

Where dat???? Not sure what all that blue stuff is above the house and mountains, but it does resemble something once mentioned in the tales of yore around these parts, something goes by the name of "Clear Sky"...

I had a nice white Christmas - in Port Orchard! Woke up at my mother's to rain. Then the rain got "thick". Then it became snow and by late morning everything was white. A decent layer of snow. But when we left in the early afternoon much had became slush & no sign of snow a few miles down the road. We must have been under a big cloud. But coming from northern Ohio, I appreciated a white Christmas that really caused no travel problems.

Wenatchee. That's Castle Rock on the right and Thimble at the top. I grew up at the base of that hill. Climbed it hundreds of times - the first time at 3 years old.

Happy new year, everyone!
Well, the January observing window is only a few days away (for me, it's approximately the two weeks centered around the new moon). Who knows, maybe we'll actually get some clear skies then!
Let's see, for me, i've got exactly one item left for my Messier certificate -- M93 in Puppis. Missed it last winter due to six months of overcast. Then there's a few double stars and Herschels to knock off.

I was down at the Spaced residence for dinner 2 nights ago and had the pleasure of using his new 12x36 IS binos. They are SWEEEET! Nailed Vesta and I think I got Ceres, too.
