Actually he does own several eyepieces. They just happen to be cooled and have CCD chips in them.
Of course!

I was late getting out and the clouds moved in quickly. It was enough to make a fat man sad.

I'm happy at least, though. I snuck out with my small-scope for an hour and managed to finish some real-low-to-the-horizon binary-star observations in Canis Major and Puppis. I'd been just kicking myself all week for not doing them last Thursday when we had that one clear night. Didn't really want to have to wait another year...
And also managed to catch Mercury setting earlier this evening. All in all, a short but productive night. Almost done with the Solar System and Double Star AstroLeague certificates now.

The old civilizations had a penchant for sacrifice to the "gods"(what ever god they wanted something from)...
along that thought path I'm thinking a larger hammer(almost gallagher like) and the sacrificial lamb- a Starlight Express camera? I suppose there should be some kind of chanting taking place during the "event"... any thoughts.
Part of me is kidding, and then part of me is NOT

The new civilization also seems to be doing a lot of sacrificing to its deity, mother earth. Doesn't seem to be pacifying that cruel deity though.
Hmm, i'm sure i have some misbegotten hardware i'd be happy to take a hammer to. But of course, the problem is that those deities never want the sick and crippled for their sacrifices; they want the firstfruits, the best. King Agamemnon, remember, had to sacrifice his only daughter.
So you'd have to draw straws and the loser would have to run over his 36" Dobsonion with a bulldozer or something.

I went out again to Yakima Canyon last night and got some nice data (I think ) I took a good hour doing flats and so it was sunrise before I left soI managed to snap a few shots. This place is beautiful and an excellent place for winter observing!
Here are some images of the Canyon

Hmmm... Wow nice weather!
Looking forward to a quiet evening... Then My step son calls. Want's to know if they could spend the night as we are close to Stevens Pass and he has National Guard biathlon training up there this weekend. And bring his wife, and the two grand-kids (1&2yo) And his buddy (nice kid also in the NG), and his buddy's wife and kid.
Ah well, the more the merrier
I might sneak out with the binos.
Actually that sounds better than going out observing. Not much better than a house full of family and friends.

I drove past Yakima Canyon on the ridges above this past weekend. I wondered if any of us were down there.

Ram is that a Prius to match the color of your AP mount? Congratulations.
Reprocessed some of my older images since I really can't get out observing until summer. Here's a reprocess of the only image I got with all the equipment mishaps I had lust summer at Goldendale. Click on the image for a larger version on Flickr.

Ajay, that is a wonderful image. There are SO many stars and the nebula has an amazing amount of detail. You guys could pool your images and make a book. I would buy one.
Speaking of buying, I bought the binos. Mike and Jackie have good taste in optics so I am sure I'll enjoy them.

Thank you Sean and Kyle.
Be careful Sean, don't be tempted. CN user Ed Moreno (Eddgie) has a line in his signature that says, "The night sky is my mistress. She seduces me away from all other lovers." Don't listen to him.
I have a pile of papers to grade, but I am going to poke my head out a bit as well.
