Weather.com forecast for Goldendale looks good with Sat night being the most uncertain.

I got a wife-baked loaf of banana bread this time. I would be happy to chip in on some meat if someone has cold storage and a way to cook it - say $10. I have no way of keeping it cold or inclination to cook.

To all you hordes frantically wishing I'd pick up my cell calls or return yours, the fact is that my cell ist kaput. The screen died over the weekend. Supposedly I was to receive delivery of a replacement yesterday, but no joy. None today, either. It'll probably arrive tomorrow, I assume 5 minutes after I leave for G/dale, which I suspect will be in the 9 - 10 a.m. time frame.

What's the quickest route down from the east side? I'm guessing it's about a 4 hour drive?

Hi, Steve,

Look at the opening post to this thread, containing travel directions. From the east side the fastest route would be over Snoqualmie (at 3000', not 6000') and on down. This assumes, and *always* check before you leave, that the Pass isn't backed up with a major accident. I once averted a 3 hour backup over
Snoqualmie by checking DOT before leaving.

I'm about to head out myself. Get dressed, check DOT website, then a very short shopping list, then the library (recorded book only has 4 disks left), then gas. Varrooom.

Drive safe, All!

The van is all prepped, so we are ready to go.

But, something has come up, a family member was admitted to hospital last nite. So, it looks like we are not going to be able to go this weekend.

Steve...GOMOC is about an hour for you..but I'm assuming you're talking about PixieLand.... 4 hours is probably bout right. Have fun and clear nights. I'll be thinking of you guys...it will be brief ...but between images through my 10"..I'll throw a thought your way...

Eat good, play hard and enjoy those skies. Drive safe everyone.

Rob

Hi, work and my daughter's school function has wiped my Friday vacation day off the books.
My oldest daughter and I hope to come on Saturday, but I am holding back if the weather looks ify.

If anyone there tonight and Friday can post weather - reality versus what was forecast
that would be great to help decide Saturday morning.

Hoping to see a bunch of you. 2010 was great, missed it last year.

Myles

If I'm taking a scenic route it will be eastbound over Hwy 410. The view down the American River Valley from the top of Chinook Pass is breathtaking beyond description. The route will add 45-60 minutes of drive time vs. I-90.

The traffic was horrible leaving town anyway. The sign said 15 minutes to 520, 54 minutes to i90. I took 520 to 202 and cut across. I am in ellensburg 3 hrs after leaving marysville. I could make it before dark if i shop for food tomorrow.

Mike,

Thanks for being a gracious & superb host. It was nice seeing so many familiar faces again. Looking forward to future gatherings.
My mini-van was rocking & rolling last night so it felt like I was in a cradle being rocked to sleep!

An exciting time was had by all last night. Those in solid vehicles did fine (rocked to sleep eh?), but it was estimated that we had 40+ mph sustained wind for most of the night, with higher gusts. Both canopies were slightly damaged and had to be taken down when it got strong enough. Steve's tent was pretty well damaged, there was a broken pole sticking out the front of the tent, and pretty well flattened in the back. BUT, it did not rain, so it was only exciting and not miserable like it could have.

Fortunately, that was not the whole story. We got some clear (and rather cold) time on Thursday night, though many (2 or 3 of the 4?) of us went to bed before it got even better. And also there were a few hours Friday night, which was unexpected with some major cloud action right up till dark. A lot warmer than Thursday night also, a pleasurable night observing. It was cut short at about 2AM by clouds coming back over.

The wind was expected to continue through today so most everyone left this morning.

Brad

Thanks Mike for having us over. It was a great time and i look forward to the next one. Too bad the wind caused damage to the covered area and Steve's tent but, it was something to keep us busy Saturday night :-)
