HMmm, Interesting. There servers must be down. Or something else has gone wrong. Hopefully they are still in business.

Hi ynokrz,
Since you have just talked with Scott last week, would you please ask him why he has not responded to no less than four emails concerning my recent purchase of a 10" scope? He did not send what I had ordered and hasen't responded yet to any emails, including a PM here on CN.
See my reference four posts below.

Have you tried calling him rather than emailing him? If his website is down, perhaps so is his email, or perhaps the emails got caught in spam filters, who knows.

Scott doesn't answer e-mails. This has been a recurring sore point with a number of people who have done or tried to do business with him in the past.
So, yes, try calling. I don't know if they have an 800 number, however.

I doubt it - it also says: Aunet Pty Ltd AUSTRALIA Scott's in Michigan.
I have no idea what's up with Anttlers.

I have been trying to return a 12" scope (two were sent by accident) to Anttler's for almost three months and I've been waiting for a call tag and also for the roller bearing that didn't ship with the scope. I have tried e-mail and phone. I did manage to speak to the owner several times and he promised to sent the bearings and the call tags, but nothing has happened in theose three months. This 12" scope is taking up valuable storage space at my place and I'd like to send it back to him. If anyone has better luck than I in contacting him, please let him know I need the bearings and the call tag. Thanks.

I know how you feel. Scott is not answering to any thing. I've gone so far as mailing a letter to his home address. He made a promise to be there to support his DSO scopes with parts and so far, well you know. I also needed the roller base and the Baltic Birch Base, he even said he still had some. I don't think Anttlers will be back. Good luck Jerry

If you are getting no response from Anttlers Optics and need to get rid of the scope to make room, I would look for the nearest astronomy club (preferably a registered 501(c)) and make a donation of a 12" telescope. Get the tax certificate and send it to the address you have for Anttlers and let him know of the kind deed he did for public education.
Unfortunately, this would do nothing to get your roller bearings.

While I know that it is frustrating when any vendor doesn't respond, if the guy has just had his business go under, declared bankruptcy, and perhaps lost his house, he may have other priorities at the moment than accepting a returned item.
It's sad to see so many astro businesses going under recently, but with the slow economy, it's easy to decide to cut back on luxuries like scopes and accessories. Anttler's seemed to provide good products and service for reasonable prices, I am sorry to see them go.

Well according to US postal law if you are sent something that you didn't order, it's yours (a free gift) so you can do with it what you want. Put it on ebay to defer the cost of the missing roller bearings, or take a tax break and give it to a club as was suggested. I'm sorry to see them go, they had some newt mirror sets that I might have bought.

Im not sticking up for Scott, but ive also been waiting for his replies and scope,he finally called a week ago thursday and we talked for 20 minutes, and told me his situation. He said the scope business is still there, but he had just got his pilots liscence and has been flying customers to and fro,so the scope business is kind of taking 2nd stage,as its not his main source of income,i have sent many emails and such w/o response and yes,it is very frustrating.I was also waiting for a scope, but was recently laid off,so im trying to get my funds back,I told him all he would have to do is let everyone know whats going on.It would probably make a lot less po'd people. So his is still around, just hard to catch.

Well said Jeff...
I am glad you shared that info about Scott. I am not sure what it feels like to have to give up on a business and seek other income, but it can't be easy for him. Perhaps that is why he has not been easy to get a hold of... it is not an excuse... just an explanation for why this lack of communication might be occuring. I wish Scott and all of his customers the best of luck.
We at the Great Lakes Star Gaze in Michigan always enjoyed having him as a vendor... he was also a nice guy to observe with. Maybe he'll make it again some day when things settle down
