We will have some new scopes in the line very shortly. The first is a 150mm f/12 Mak. The second is a 200mm f/12 Mak. The 150 is priced at $579.00 and the 200 is $1995. So far they have all tested out very well optically and think they will continue to follow in the Astro-Tech mission statement of more performance less money.

Good point Steve.
It is a tease, but you can bet Astro-Tech will deliver.
An ~8 inch Mak is very enticing. I owned an Orion 150 Mak and loved it. At that point, the biggest available Mak (without going "high end") was a 7" - either from Meade or Synta. Now AT is upping the ante with an 8" Mak. I can't wait to hear more.

Hi Mike,
What is the lowdown on provisions in these scopes for active and in particular passive cooldown? Also (I almost forgot), what are the physical dimensions of the scopes (including weight)?
They look like a good deal.

Glassthrower,
I count the following new products:
1) a set of proprietary EPs, the Paradigms 2) a line of "affordable" RCs in 6,8,10,12 and 16 inch 3) triplet refractors in 106mm and 150mm 4) Maks in 150mm and 200mm
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of another reseller/manufacturer that's announced/offered such an extensive assortment of new scopes recently. This is particularly impressive considering how relatively young the Astro-Tech brand is. Well worth a little tease.
I can't help but wonder what's too early in the pipeline for Mike B/The Mighty Kong to mention. There's no question in my mind that, as The Kong mentioned in another thread, Astronomics/Astro-Tech is looking to change the industry's performance per dollar paradigm.
I look forward to the Mighy Kong's next tease.

Hi Mike, good news, any other info would be great! Are you looking at just making them F12 or maybe some at F10, its just that F10 seems to be a good all around focal ratio. Will they be ready before NEAF or will that be when you plan to roll them out. regards Jim

The 106 should be good to go in 21 days. The lenses have been here, but we switched from carbon fiber to our white/gray aluminum bodies. We spent $20K setting up the carbon fiber a year ago for the company. We have used it on the 80mm, but to many people have stated a distaste for it. There won't be much choice on the 150 triplet as we can have as many as one tube made at a time and that isn't really possible with aluminum.

No active cooling, heck our 7" Questar doesn't have active cooling. The rear cell has three plugs in it for collimation, but it also exposes the rear cell to allow heat to come out. I don't have exact weight on the 6. The Voyager handled it with ease.

f/12 is the number. We will have them for sale in the next few weeks. We already have a small amount of the 150 here and the 200 is due in a week or so.

That's oaky, I am just glad we have had a chance to play for the national title 40% of the time in the last decade and participate in a BCS bowl greater then 50% of the time since their inception. I don't know of many other schools that can say that.
