Both LX80s and LX800s are on track for shipping starting in January, per a conversation with Meade this morning.

I checked with Highpoint Scientific and they have no idea when the LX80 will appear...

I would rather have the bugs knocked out before they ship then after they get into the consumer's hands. Good things come to those who wait.

I have to decide what 8" telescope to buy in a couple of week.
So far, I think the CPC800 is the one, but this meade LX80 makes me think. Any news when it's going to be on the market?

I just cancelled my order for the LX80. I placed my order back in October 2011. I was just told that it still will be "another 5-6 weeks or so" I appreciate that Meade wants the mount to be high quality, but why advertise and take orders for it when you are not even close to being able to ship the mount. Very disappointing, I think they are making a big mistake.

I've also given up on this mount. I ordered in early January foolishly believing that Meade would want to be shipping in time for improving spring weather. It's spring, the weather is getting nice, I cancelled the LX80 order and bought a CGEM. The silence from Meade is deafening.

They started shipping the 800 mounts, I expect the 80s to follow in the near future.

While the extra wait time is unfortunate I wouldn't say they've been silent about the mounts. Meade has posted quite a few times on their facebook page with updates from the LX800 beta testing. They may not have included ship dates but I can appreciate them trying to keep their customers in the loop.

I just picked up my Meade LX80 Mount. I have a Meade 102ed/apo 920mm f/9. This mount is solid. I havent used it yet but will. I will be eventually buying a 12" meade or 11" celestron ota. use it as a double ota mount and reflect and refract. lol. I will let you know what i think after a few clear skies.

Glad to see some more people getting these now
