And here's the statue of Norman's favorite son. I'm still waiting for them to put up my statue. All I get are photos on the walls of the Post Office and Police Station.

I took the previous two images and started to cross the street, thinking "It would be nice to have a train come through now, just for grins and a quick snap." And what to my wondering eyes should appear (no, not a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, but a northbound train). Here 'tis.

I went back in the office and started to upload the pictures for processing and voila, a southbound train no more than 10-15 minutes after the northbound train had passed . . . and there's only one track through town.

The southbound train was moving much more slowly than the northbound, so I assume it was on a siding north of town waiting for the northbound freight to pass and was just starting to pick up speed on the main line again. I just hope no one falls asleep at the switch.

Nice statue of Maverick, though my favorite James Garner cowboy was the one in Support Your Local Sheriff.

Does anyone else see a Klingon Bird of Prey way back in the sky over the train station?

Jim "Rockfish" Rockford! Perhaps the best PI series ever. Only Magnum, PI comes close.

Fred,

You have the best of both worlds. I worked for a railroad and I also love astronomy.

You have a great location and I can't wait to visit!

Cheers,

Ron

Actually is a Bird of Prey. The UFP Spaceport is nearby and there is always something coming and going. If fact, here's a shot of the Enterprise coming in for a visit taken from my desk.

Beautiful job guys! I gotta ask though, with the beautiful wood floor and the high ceiling, were you able to keep Mike from putting up a basketball hoop?

Plus the lights in the nacelle domes spin and change colors and the navigation lights blink on and off.

That comes after the bowling alleys go in.

We are at 74 scopes set up on the floor with more samples coming in every day. We believe we should be at around 100-120 by the end of the summer.

Here's a pic of most of the 74 scopes on the floor at the present time. There's still plenty of room for the 30 or 40 yet to come, and plenty of open space so you don't trip over a scope or feel crowded.

If you want, play the game of "Where's Yoda?" in the pic. Somewhere in it his life-size body lurking is.

Yoda is obviously not very good at "Where's Waldo."
