A view up the stairway towards the Questar 7" and 3.5" that greets those brave enough to climb the 26 steps. A 12" Meade LX200 in the background.

A view of the progress opening scopes to date. About 60 opened, another 50 to go. A partial lineup of Explore Scientific in the foreground, partial lineups of Meade and Celestron in the background. Starter scopes line the wall in the background. Still working on the final layout when we get all the scopes set up. Then it's time to work on the eyepiece wall with over 200 eyepieces on display. Then on to the binocular and spotting scope display areas, with the the microscope and weather station areas bringing up the rear. Lots of work still to be done.

Another view. Meade in the foreground; a 14" EdgeHD on a CGE Pro mount in the background with a row of other Celestrons around the wood-wrapped post. Some SkyWatcher refractors and Dobs in the background; with all the TeleVue refractors on TelePod, Panoramic, and Gibraltar mounts in the distance. Stlll more to come in the coming weeks.

Here's the view of the Q7 once you manage to make it up the stairs. If no one minds, I'll take the elevator.

Hmmm...looking at the beautiful finished wood floor and those pointy metal tripod legs... I'm thinking Magic Sliders or lots of anti-vibe pads.
Do customers and employees need to remove thier shoes before entering the showroom?

Now there's an idea! As they examine each scope, they just slide around it, onto the next one; thus beautiful wood floor is polished daily.

A surprising number of scopes already have have rubber-tipped feet on their tripods. We have plastic furniture foot caps for those that don't. Vibration damping pads will be going under the pointy metal feet of the larger scopes to spread the weight over a wider area. We don't want to use the Magic Slider approach or we'll have employees having races pushing scopes from one end of the showroom to the other.
We're going to have big fluffy pink bunny slippers for everyone to slip on over their regular shoes when they come in. They will be fluffy on the bottom, as well as the top, and the extra-long floppy bunny ears will have a built-in floor polish dispensers.

An interesting side note. We've been prepping and renovating this space for 17 months, and yesterday was the first time we noticed that there was part of an older painted-over advertising sign under the word Ariosa in the slogan "Arbuckles' Ariosa is the right coffee" that we're saving on the showroom wall. We've either been blind or too focused on building the best possible telescope store.
In doing some more cleaning off of the plaster that covered the original brick wall and sign (a process that will be going on for months to come, one brick at a time), we discovered the word "tobacco" above and partially covered by the first four letters of the word "Ariosa." By the way, Arbuckles Ariosa coffee, made since 1865, is still available. There's an interesting history at this link: http://arbucklecoffeetraders.com/legend.html

Have you guys sent that photo to the Arbuckles Coffee Company? I bet they'd get a kick out of seeing it.

Good idea. We'll do it when we finish setting up and get all the scope boxes out of the way.

The CN servers are currently housed out of state. We will probably buy new servers and move CN in-house when we get settled in and get a backup power generator installed.
We'll be sure to install them in a room that gives you a view of the statue of James Garner as Maverick; the 1909 Amtrak train station (which serves double duty as the home of the Norman Performing Arts Studio); and the green belt between the train track and the street with its trees, statues, and benches to rest and contemplate the 30 or so trains that stop traffic on Main Street every day.
In fact, I can hear one coming through now. Did you see it go by? Surely you heard it. Two Santa Fe locomotives and about 40 cars heading north. Still yellow paint on the engines and a Santa Fe logo. Apparently they haven't changed all of their engines to the BNSF paint scheme. A mix of hopper cars, tank cars, box cars, auto transport cars, you name it -- all with lots and lots of graffiti on the sides. You'll have an interesting view when we get the servers moved.

Here's the train station and green belt mentioned above that the servers might gaze upon when we move them.
