Great news. I was just told that we will be shutting in the well for the weekend!!
Hopefully get off early and get my son outta school early tomorrow and head up there tomorrow afternoon. If all goes to plan, it should be a great weekend. Just a 7 hour drive.

For those coming by during our grand opening, and who might feel peckish during their visit, attached is a map of the restaurants in our immediate area. Here's a list of the restaurants and their food types:
Benvenuti’s Restaurante: upscale Italian food, 105 West Main, 310-5271 Bison Witches Bar & Deli: sandwiches, soups, salads, 211 East Main, 364-7555 Blu Fine Wine & Food: international, 201 South Crawford, 321-2739 Coach’s: brewhouse, pizza, burgers, sports bar, 110 West Main, 321-2739 The Diner: seen on “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” TV show, American diner food, chili, 213 East Main, 329-6642 Fancy That: international cuisine, 215 East Main, 307-0541 Full Moon Sushi: nearly 100 sushi rolls, 326 East Main, 701-1800 The Garage: burgers, tacos, bar food, 307 East Main, 701-7035 McNellie’s Abner Ale House: Irish pub food, burgers, sandwiches, 121 East Main, 928-5801 Michaelangelo’s Coffee & Wine Bar: panini, pizza, 207 East Main, 579-3387 Ole Town Gyros & Kabob: Greek, Mediterranean, 402 East Main, 447-0884 Sergio’s Italian Bistro: Italian, pizza, 104 East Gray, 573-7707 Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine: upscale Thai food, 211 West Main, 217-8424 Syrup: breakfast/lunch boutique (close at 2pm), 123 East Main, 701-1143 Tarahumara’s Mexican Café: Mexican, Tex-Mex, 702 North Porter, 360-8070 Tres Taqueria y Cantina: Latin American, Spanish, 305 East Main, 701-8282 Van’s Pig Stand: barbeque, 320 North Porter, 364-0600
The map also shows the two main parking lots just west of our store. There is also curbside parking on many of the streets in our area and two large bank/courthouse parking lots within a block or two of us which should be empty on Saturday afternoon.
We'll open at 9am and stay open until 10pm if the weather permits observing in the evening (it's predicted to be cloudy Saturday night, unfortunately).
We'll start hourly drawings for small giveaways, like binoculars and such, at about 11am. The drawings for the Celestron NexStar 8, Explore Scientific ED127, Meade LS6-ACF, and TeleVue Ethos eyepiece giveaways will take place between 5pm and 6pm, so that everyone who comes in all day long has a chance to enter the drawings and win.
You have to attend the grand opening to get a raffle ticket for the drawings, but you don't have to be present to win any of the prizes.
There will be small freebies from Celestron and TeleVue being given away (beanies, Frisbees, etc) while quantities last. Reps from Celestron, Explore Scientific, Lunt, and TeleVue will be on hand to chat and answer questions. Should be a fun day.

Tarahumara on Porter (just off Mike's map to the upper right, he has an indicator) is my favorite Mexican joint in Norman. They have the most awesome salsa verde.

NOOOO ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! You will end up as an ugly, bloody stain on Astronomics new floor! Very uncool way to spoil the grand opening !
On a more serious note, thanks a lot for the map and the food map, and especially the parking suggestions. Y'all really are a first class service establishment.

Wow, looking at that map I realize I'm much closer than I thought I was. (You Are Here) I may just have to walk over. Oh well, maybe I can talk the wife into a mega drive for the weekend... 1800 miles round trip to attend a store opening that I don't really plan on purchasing anything at... I wonder if that will fly... When I told her about it yesterday she said 'Are We Going To Need The Truck?' LOL

As of now the OKC Astronomy Club and Norman North HS club should have a number of scopes set up in the area designated on the map, although the morning forecast is less than encouraging. Current weather projection is shower early, partial clearing in the afternoon and partly cloudy in the evening, which should allow moon viewing at least. I have not heard anything on this, but I suspect some of the manufacturer reps may be out with the observers allowing some use of new eyepieces (ES 120 anyone?) and there is a theater across the street which will be letting out before 10, plus the usual Main Street dining crowd, so public foot traffic ought to be good through the evening. Look forward to meeting incoming CN folks . . . and we promise not to do anything that would leave permanent marks on anyone in a Texas Longhorn shirt!

Just got to the La Quinta off of Ed Noble Pkwy. Eating at Ihop next door. Then gonna drive by Astronomics to make sure I can get there right. Long drive here, but made an hour longer by the BLEEP traffic in Dallas. Took an hour to drive 30 miles. Ridiculous. But we made it and will be there in the morning. Its almost surreal, especially with all the OU stuff everywhere. Ill stick out like a sore thumb tomorrow tho. Haha.
