Hi all,
I've been observing for over a year now and have wanted a larger pair of binoculars. I have a pair of Nikon 9x25's of mid 1980's vintage. Not great for astronomy but nice small binos. So I heard about boston telescope going out of business and went down there and picked up a pair of Orion 12x63's. They seem to be pretty good except I am not sure about one thing. The right side eye lens seems loose where it focuses. I can push/pull the whole thing and it moves quite a bit. I have seen this on old, worn out binos but I don't know if this is just inherent in the design or maybe I got a defective set.

Have you called Orion? Just because they were discounted doesn't mean Orion won't take care of you. Give 'em a call.

It should not move in any way that it is not supposed to. Either take them back or deal with repair or replacement thru the dealer.

Boston Telescope has closed its doors for good. You'll have to deal with Orion directly. Surely they can advise you. I don't know of any other dealer whom you could speak with in NH with the exception of a store in Dover...but they mostly deal with photography equipment.

Thanks all,
I showed then to a couple of club members yesterday and they agreed I should call Orion and send them back. Which should be no problem.
Maybe I should have held out for the Oberwerk 12x60? Less money, too.
