Superwedge vs Milburn Deluxe Wedge
      #100519 - 05/01/04 05:44 AM

I recently found myself in the situation when wedge is absolutely necessary to obtain quality pictures. There is two options for my 14”LX200GPS : Meade Superwedge or Milburn Deluxe wedge. I was trying to get more info but it’s really hard to judge without actually using the product. I would really appreciate any information on either wedges, Thank you!

I have a superwedge wedge that works well, but I had to spend a good bit of time and money modifying it to do so. I added bearings to both axis, added bolts with finer threads, (Mitty kit)1/8" teflon between the tripod and wedge, rosette knobs and nylon bushings to all moving parts. I have also purchased some of Milburn's equipment, (not the wedge though) and it is high quality. If I had it to do over I would buy the Milburn.

I agree, I had the Superwedge and did quite a bit to modifiy it. If you are stationary, once setup, the Superwedge will work fine, but if you have to tear down and setup frequently I would definitely go with the Melburn.

Thank guys! Really appreciate the info; now I will definitely go for Milburn, It¡¦s always better to learn on mistakes of others . All the info on the web is quite shady, one says the Meade is quite good and that the wedge is solid, some say Milburn rusts and it made of multiple parts¡K so it was really hard to get straightforward information.
Thanks a lot for advice!
