Folks,
I was bouncing around E-bay today and came across this thing. In my own opinion this has got to be the most user unfriendly device I have seen in some time. It actually takes two people to operate and is transported on a trailer.I can think of all kinds of things to say about it but if Cloudy Nights will let me I am just going to put the E-bay address here for those who may want to take a look at what I think is one of the more expensive silly contraptions that I have seen in a long while. The address is-

Nine thousands bucks for that.... I don't think so. You can build a bino dob for 1/7th that or even less I imagine. Theres been articles in S&T several times about binoscopes

<laughing> Oh, come on, Dan. Admit it. If that contraption was set up at a star party you and I both would be in line to view through it. Still, I wonder how many folks are going to bid with a $10K min. bid.

Dan,
You said this contraption had to be the most "user -unfriendly" device you've seen "in some time".
I would be interested to learn what other device you saw "some time ago" that rivals this for sheer "user -unfriendliness"
I must say I can't think of ANYTHING so ridiculous that I've ever seen.
Perhaps I've just led too sheltered a life :-)
I'm not surprised there have been NO OFFERS thus far ,with just 2 days remaining at the time of posting.
Regards to you Dan -- your posts seem to have been a little scarce of late.
Kenny.
Regards , Kenny.

User-unfriendly? Perhaps. But surely a contraption that requires a minimum of two (and ideally many more) people to operate it must be something that potentially promotes community, co-operation amongst nations, and hence leads to the furtherance of the cause of World Peace. Send them, en masse, to the trouble-spots of the world, I say!

That’s just scary dude, I honestly thought of building the exact same thing not that long ago, had drawings and all. Only my idea had motors for both vertical and horizontal movement and could be controlled much the same way you would an electric wheel chair and therefore only needed one man to operate. But I quickly realized that you would probably get just a good a view from a high quality scope and a quality binoviewer….

Mike, Yes ya got me on that I would of course be in line to sit in it. Although that might be due to more my desire to relive the experience of sitting in a cupola with a rotating turret mounting a 50cal machine gun. I will have to admit to the innovative human go-to aspects of the thing. Kenny I have not been posting much as I have not felt that I had anything much to contribute. Not that I ever really do.
