Hi everyone,
I cannot get focus with Meade f6.3 focal reducer/field flattener, have tried the following configurations. focal reducer...off axis guider....20Da camera= too far away to focus. Focal reducer...flip mirror...camera= cannot focus. Meade have informed me that the focal reducer has to be after the off axis guider and flip mirror. I am in the process of getting Steve Mogg, who makes Mogg adapters, to manufacture 3 adapters so I can mount the focal reducer closer to the camera.
Has anyone else had this problem?

One of the problems with the FR's from Meade is they changed suppliers at some time from Japan to China. The focal length of the reducer itself was cut almost in half.
This "May" be part of the problem you're having.

Thanks for your reply Jeff.
I will see how I go with the adapters, and hope it works then.

Before you spend any money, has it ever worked?
I bought one a while back and I put it on my scope. When I attached a flip mirror or the visual back, I got a great view of the secondary. The actual focal point with the thing was about three feet in back of the scope. I called Meade, and they told me that they had a few focal reducers ship that were bad. The CS at Meade told me to call my distributor and send it back for a replacement. (I have found that Meade is pretty good at taking things back)
As an aside,
I read somewhere on the internet that some of these focal reducers had the lenses put in backwards, so like a fool, I took mine apart and reversed the lenses. Big Mistake, it didn't work, and I just voided the warrantee.
When, I called the distributor and explained to them what I was told, they were ready to take it back just like Meade said they would. I did feel the need to confess about voiding the warrantee.
We agreed that I had to eat this one. (live and learn)
It makes a nice paperweight.......

Thanks Frank,
I will see how I go with the adapters. Meade suggested that I put the focal reducer after the flip mirror and off axis guider. The conscept of the flip mirror is good, for finding DSOs with camera attached ready to image, But I am dissapointed that Meade haven't fully tested things first.
Hope someone from Meade reads this because bad news travels fast. Otherwise I am very happy with the 14" LX200.
