Hi everyone, I am new on this board, came across it when trying to find information on binoculars! I am interested in buying a good multipurpose binocular with IS. I'd use it on trips, wildlife, hiking, star gazing, etc. The two Canon IS seem to be excellent choices, but I have troubles figuring out which one is better for me... The 12x36 is $200 more expensive, but battery life is much longer, and it has better magnification, but smaller viewing angle...how does the sharpness/brightness and overall viewing quality compare? any major differences? In general, are either really as sensitive to the environment as some have said? (no rain, no high humidity, no cold weather, etc?) Any other IS bino on the market that maybe is waterproof in a similar price range and similar features?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have neither, but if I'm not mistaken then the 10x30 requires you to keep pressure on the IS button, while the 12x36 only needs to be pressed briefly to engage.

Yea, T saw that thread, but it does not compare the 10x30 with the 12x36. Has anyone here used both and can comment on the sharpness/brightness etc? Is IS II better than IS? Also, has anyone exerience in using either one in high humidity/rain etc?
