Hi everyone

I have a cheap pair of Bresser Binos..Yesterday they fall on the ground and since then I see everything double through the binos...
Can I fix it somehow or it is not worth it?

It doesn't cost anything to attempt to fix it. read Collimation.

Edz is right- what have you got to lose? Study online/search out binocular repair to find what you can- and then see if you can figure out what's wrong- and what you can do to correct it. Could be some inexpensive experience you gain. Nothing ventured- nothing gained. Would love to take apart a pair of binoculars just to play with them- see how they're put together/adjusted, but certainly wouldn't do it with a good pair.

First of all Harry - check to see if the barrels are straight - I've seen a pair of cheap binos get dropped, and one barrel ended up askew, where it fits into the prism housing.
(plastic barrels - one had been knocked a bit sideways, and wasn't seated properly in it's thread)
Unscrew em both, then back in, and make sure neither has got cross-threaded.

Worth checking out before you try fiddling with collimation screws.

my 7 year old has a "cheap" pair of 7x35 that i borrowed when i went to a wrestling meet with my older son.when i opened the door to my truck and picked them up from the front seat, i dropped them. one of the barrels hit the curb first and when i checked them, they were really bad. angry with myself, i reacted so fast by banging them on the curb, hitting the same barrel on the other side and actually collimated them that way

Hi Jim:

Do you mean you collimated them OR made them better than they were?

Cheers,

Bill

i figured i'd use the word collimated. after they fell i was gonna throw them out, but since the views were acceptable (for what they were) i just whacked them and they straightened out pretty good. i can't say the views are better, but i can't tell the difference before or after. probably just a freak deal.

Hi Wes,

I bought a SARD SD Mark 21 binocular last year--fungus was having a good time living in them! This is an older WWII unit.

Anyway, I did a cut away, as I mentioned once before on the forum. By that I mean, I cut the binocular in two halves. Then, I cut about 45% of the one half away. This left a very nice presentation of EVERYTHING inside.

This project took me five nights to complete the project. Three nights were required just to refine the edges of the metal and the lenses plus the touchup paint. I must say that it came out to be exactly what I had envisioned.

Perhaps you could too.

Best regards,
Dave.
