Markus,
The title of a great (black and white) airplane crash movie "Fate is the Hunter" certainly fits your unfortunate accident. I empathise with your pain. Thankfully, my 15x70s have stayed on their mount and tripod for the dozen or so times I've had them out since receiving them the end of July. Your indicent will ensure I double check things a tad more carefully from now on. Its also nice to now Celestron is honouring their warranty, even if it costs half the price of a new pair of 15x70s.
Good luck with your repaired/next new pair.... keep those fingers crossed.... and check, check, check -- then double check again.

If this isn't warning enough to all who use tripods with "quick" release features...
My TV Pronto did the same thing to me once, except I was able to "catch" the Pronto with my face. A fat lip will heal cheaply enough, broken glass will not.
Best wishes and that such doesn't happen again, or to anyone else!

Markus,
The title "Fate is the Hunter" of a great (black & white) airplane disaster movie describes your unfortunate accident (from the same-name novel by Ernest K. Gann). I empathise with your pain and loss -- however temporary.
Its nice to hear Celestron is honouring their warrantee, even at 50% of the cost (Cdn) of of a new pair of binos.
Thankfully my new 15x70s have stayed where mounted during these past 3 weeks without incident (fingers now crossed!!!).
Good luck with your repaired/next new pair Markus... check, check, check, then double check again.
