Stf 2690 Del 7.0-7.2/16.7” RA 2030 +12
Stf 2718 Del 8.0-8.0/8.5” RA 2040 +13
These are all faint (mag6+) doubles that I observe with binoculars. I selected the more equal pairs here. Most need 20x or 25x. Three needed 31x to 37x. But a half dozen or so are good for 15x and even 3 or 4 can be seen by 10x and 12x.
Sttf 26 Cas, B536 Tau, 61 Oph, 100 Her & Stf 2690 Del
can all be seen or elongated at 10x or 12x.
Add Stf 485 and 10 Mon for a 15x70 and h1458 for a 16x70.
The faintest ones get more difficult. For instance, I could barely see h 1458 (mag8.5)(16.3") with 16x70, it was not seen in 15x70. Closer should mean more difficult, but 100 Her(mag6)(14.2") can be seen at 12x50 and is even suspected in a 10x50. In this case the mag6 stars of 100Her are so much easier to see that 2 arcseconds closer is less of an issue. Fainter stars are harder to see.
23 Cnc (5.1") in BT100 at 31x see deep notch. It was seen at 37x.
24 Cnc (5.8") in BT100 at 31x seen split.
Brighter (mag5) 95 Her (6.3") is seen with Oberwerk 25x100
Stf 232 (mag8) (6.6") only elongated with Oberwerk 25x100
Stf 2690 (mag7) (16.7") is seen very nicley with 15x70s and 12x50s.
h 1458 (mag8.5) (16.3") is very difficult in 16x70s, nice in a 20x80.
100 Her (mag6) (14.2") is seen in a 12x50 and suspected in a 10x50
Enjoy.

EdZ,
Great stuff, many thanks!
It is broad daylight and throwing it down with rain, also lunch has just made into the oven to heat up!
Perhaps later....

Ed,
Thanks for the list. I suspect you have better eyes and better skies than I - I could make out a few of these with 25x100s, but I couldn't split any in my 15x70s. Will try again tonight with the 15x70s on a better mount.
Thanks for always sharing these interesting challenges!

EdZ -
I have to admit, I am getting curious about binocular doubles - in much the same way I eventually "came around" to appreciating open clusters. If for nothing else, it seems to be a good way to determine the resolution of one's optics and the acuity of one's eyes. Both of which I am interested in.
In keeping with this thread, I Googled some information on "colorful binocular doubles" (I don't use the CN search, too many irrelevant results) and came up with this excellent thread you posted in the Binaries forum :
http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/176917/
Especially interesting is the list of links to binocular doubles and colorful doubles near the bottom of the list.
Thanks for sharing...clear dark skies...

Mike,
you have linked to my "best of" thread in the Double star forum. Not nearly as extensive as here in the Binocular Forum.
I've added a few to the list above.
Art, for 15x70s I would whittle that list down to just these
For 15x70s
Sttf 26, Cas 6.9-7.4/63” RA 0220 +60 1° ne of oc Stock 2
B536 Tau AB-C 8.1-8.0/39” RA 0345 +24 in the center of M45, The Pleiades
Stf 485 Cam 7.0-7.1/18.2” RA 0410 +63 in ngc1502 difficult
10 Mon B-C 9.3-9.3/21” RA 0635 -4 in ngc2232
61 Oph 6.0-6.5/21” RA 1740 +3 easy

Found them! That was sneaky Ed, not letting on where they are!
Unfortunately when I try to copy a link to it, something goes wrong, as it won't work. I assume Ed means his "Binocular Doubles - List of 60 Targets", which now extends to about 100.
Ed, can you give us a working link please? Ta!

Thanks, Ed. I have observed a few of these and will add the rest to my list. During monsoon season in Arizona I spend more time making lists than observing.

Ed,
Many thanks! And congratulations on producing such a comprehensive set of lists.
Now if only I could improve my modest star-finding skills....
