Until now, a unanswered question was why the abundance of lithium produced in the Big Bang is a factor 2 to 3 times higher than the value measured in the atmospheres of old stars,
the cosmologically predicted value is too high to reconcile with the measurements made in the stars

astronomers proposed the diffusion of elements into the interior of the star

http://www.eso.org/outreach/press-rel/pr-2006/pr-30-06.html

an observational campaign to test these model predictions was made, studying a variety of stars (squared in the pic) in different stages of evolution in the metal-poor globular cluster NGC 6397.

cannot the tests made on our Sun, here are also diffusion processes, I think..

wer denkt das auch? fragt Iblis

Well, the Sun is just one star and I think that the measurements are already available for it (imho, it has to be the most studied star by humans in the universe). So, double (n-power) checking the data is probalby more apropriate to apply the results on the whole universe.
