EPs for BT80s
      #110468 - 05/20/04 02:11 PM

Does anybody know with certainty whether the following eyepiece will fit and come into focus with the Orion/Vixen BT80s?

9mm UO ortho
12mm UO ED ortho
16mm UO Konig II
15mm Meade super plossl
24mm UO Konig II
32mm Meade super plossl

Also, is it possible to use the BT80s on a regular pan tilt tripod?

Thanks,
Mike Swaim

The BT80s as shown in Orion's catalogue (just looked) come with a bottom dovetail bar that has an integral 1/4" x 20 mount hole. They weigh 11#.

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure about the eyepieces you mentioned..but I can say the the Meade 24.5 SWA are excellent eyepieces for this unit. Celestron 30mm Ultimas are nice but you have to modify the barrel..12.5 ultimas work great as well as 15mm Panoptics...While the unit does have 1/4-20 hole if you use it this way the unit isn't so stable and tends to slip from side to side if not careful...I used this on a bogen 501 head with success..JIM
