I just pick up a pair or Pentax 10x50 pcf wpII today. When I take them out side and look into the trees or grass and close one eye and leave one open and then switch eyes I can see two different shade of green. The left tube seems to be more natural green and brighter and the right one more lime green and just a little dimmer. A real noticable difference in colors. A problem with them or just my eyes.

Turn them upside down and try again. If you see the same colors even though you are looking thru a different barrel then it is your eyes.

I tried them upside down and it is in my eyes. This is kind of strange. Is this something that needs to be check by a doctor or it is somewhat normal.

Joebud ,
I'm not at all sure I am what most people would classify as being " NORMAL " -- but I certainly share this same visual symptom as yourself ! :-)

Joebud,I think this can be normal, but if you haven't had your eyes checked for a while,by all means do that. This goes for anyone else reading this, two eyes and would like to keep them ,Steve.BTW I have been a glaucoma suspect[hope that they don't put me in jail] for 15 years[I'm 54]and have been doing visual field tests and just recently had a Heidelber Retina Tomagraph done, they use special lazers to take 3-D dimensional photos of the optic nerve and surrounding retina to use as a baseline "picture" to check for any changes in the future.I'm not trying to scare anybody just good idea.:-)

Hi Joebud,Geez I get confused by this myself.I was seeing a Optomtrist and he was doing, eye pressure test, made a drawing of my optic nerve, field tests etc.He also had the machines for the rest, but my insurance wouldn't cover as eye visit for the HRT,so I had to get referral from family doctor to a Opthamologist [trained to do surgery]so it only cost me $15.You see once you have a possible problem, things change and it is more important.edit: I removed some of this post after rereading,it seemed like I was trying to scare people into getting their eyes checked.:-)
Regards,Steve

So what you are saying is just go down to the mega store(lenscrafter, walmart, frd meyers) for the first exam and take it from there. It's been quite a while since I sat in the doc's chair.

Joe, I'd say it is normal. If you sit around with one eye covered, after about 10 minutes, you're going to see different colors out of one eye. I used to to have a book on optical illusions where you could trick an eye into seeing a different color. Also I have worn those red/blue 3D glasses for a while, and what happens when you take the glasses off, your eyes see different colors for a few minutes.
In my UN-professional opinion, your dominant eye is just responding more to the magnification of the binos than the lesser eye and that is why you see a slight color change in each eye.
As always, if you're concerned see a doctor.

I noticed something similar, about a year, ago, also using a binocular. A perceptual psychologist told me that this was rather common. Color perception is different one eye from the other and each from the two, together. In my case, yellow seemed to have a different saturation with each eye.
Happy observing, Arthur
