Messing up the SAC data and fixing it
      #1114337 - 08/25/06 10:36 PM

Howdy all;

Well, I have found what I did wrong with the SAC database. I would like to share that with you so that you will not the same thing at a future date.

When using Excel as a database manager you must be careful. I was adding objects into the data at some point and I thought that Excel would “insert” the data by making a new row for the correct number of objects I was inserting. Silly me. I have found out that without the correct number of rows available, Excel will “overwrite” the old data as it puts the new rows into place.

The operator (me) must create the correct number of rows before pasting the information into the spreadsheet. This is how I lost objects in the version of the SAC deep sky database now on the website, version 7.5. Please don’t use it, I am fixing it as quickly as I can.

I will let you know as soon as I am ready for a new release. If you are willing do some double checking over the next month or so, get with me and I will send you a big email with the new spreadsheet in a few days.

Crazy, man, crazy;
Steve Coe
