Hi friends,
I'm a user of Meade's 12" LX200GPS and I was looking for the software to connect my telescope to my pc, I installed "Starry night pro" version 4.5 and ACP3 but they didn't work. Starry night only had LX200 & Autostar in the list it supported but not LX200GPS.
Does anybody know any kind of downloadable software that can surely work with the case?
With respect to the fact that my RS-232 cable is handmade, can the cause of the problem be in the cable? How can I test it?
Thanks alot

Use the LX200 in SNP. I do not know much about ACP3, but if it uses a Com port you may need 2 Com ports. One for SNP and one for ACP3.

The Autostar II the correct selection for the LX200GPS.
Ive used mine with SkymapPro, Cartes du ceil, Autostar suite and Asroplanner. It should work with SNP and ACP3. I would think its either your cable or you might not be setting up the com port correctly. If you have any type of plam pilot or PDA program running disable it. They will not release the com port for other applications to use.
Try connecting to The ASU (Autostar update application) with your cable. If you can connect then the cable is fine.

Hi Friends, I think that the problem is in my cable. I saw different ways of wiring (#505,#506 and ...) and now I am mixed up I can not find the wiring guide for LX200GPS in Meade's site .I think I should use Meade #507 cable. I am wondering if anybody test it and is sure about how to wire and connect PC to LX200GPS telescope, if yes please guide me step by step. I attached a file shows my cable wiring, I connected one side of cable to com1 and the other side to RS232 in my telescope control panel. Best Regards Majid

My version (4.5.2) does not have a AutostarII choice, just the "LX200 and Autostar" choice and it seems to work fine. I am sorry if I confused things.

In Starry Night, the GPS in Meade LX200 GPS means absolutley nothing, all its doing is syncing the software with your scope, go with Meade LX200 Autostar, toss that cable you have and get a new one, its not worth the aggravation, if you have a dialup modem in your computer, you will have a com port used up usually com port 4 if you are using windows, as com port assianments work from bottom up on standared machines, depending what components you have in your computer, if you have new and legacy components, you may have an IRQ conflict, but lets take things one at a time.
I currently use Starry Night on my LX200 and just had to change com ports (default of 4 to com 1).
Did you check your baud rate on the com port and the com port setup in Starry Night, make sure they are the same, do not set it to a fast baud rate such as 57000 on both sides at first, start off at 9600 on com port and in Starry Night, not all computers and Starry Night will run faster baud rates, I can explain if asked Im pressed for time.
