In spite of the dearth of entries, the two we had were both very nice examples of an infrequently captured phenomenon. Nice job Andrew!

Absolutely - one of my favourite picyures of recent months as it's just more than astronomy, it's art! Well done Andrew

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. In thinking of November's subject, I have 2 ideas but need some input. I'm stuck between: - Composite of a moon-planet conjunction (Saturn on the 12th/13th, Mercury on the 18th, Neptune on the 27th, Uranus on the 28th- the last 3 being rather tough) - Generic moonrise or moonset photos
The downside to the conjunction photos is you can only take that picture on specific days in Novemeber, and we may have a lack of entries due to weather. The alternative is kind of "boring". The second idea doesn't give DSI / NextImage beginner users any chance to participate (restricted to DSLR / digicam users)... The conjunction idea and a wide angle scope might be a possibility for DSI/NextImage users- but only at narrow times.
Saturn is a good fallback, as it gets higher as the month progresses.
Any suggestions from you all?

Those sound kinda tough for the beginner forum! ;-) How about a feature of the moon , like Southern Mare Crisium region , maybe crater Apollonius, plenty of detail near there and it should be in a condition to be imaged at least over 3-6 days in Nov (8th,9th,10th, then 23rd, 24th, 25th ) ? I think Saturn will be better target for Dec/Jan ?

OK I have a subject. This one has some historical significance.... on Nov. 19, 1969, Apollo 12 landed in Oceanus Procellarum. My choice for the beginner's bright imaging challenge in November 2006 is the Apollo 12 landing site and surrounding area of Oceanus Procellarum. The link above will give you a rough guide as to where it is, plus links to images of the area for reference. It's near the equator of the moon and to the east (eastward on earth, "to the left" when viewing naked eye).
