Tom,

Same here. I think Jay's writings influenced a very large number of amateur astronomers.

Ron, Tom,

Thanks much. I'm happy the forums are starting to shape up. Now it's time to get creative and have some fun with these forums.

Hey Ron - I have to ask - the picture? This isn't you is it?

Allister,

Ron has a skin condition - he's well, a little sensitive about it. We try not to draw attention to it too much.

Sure is , Allister. Having been questioned about my good look, Mark over in the Televue eGroup unmasked me (embarrassed) a few months ago. This is why observing under 45-50d F is so torturously trembling cold for me. Here's the complete portrait from last Christmas .

Can someone give a brief biographical sketch of Jay Freeman? Jay, are you out there? Can you tell us a little about yourself and your thoughts on equipment for Deep Sky? Obviuosly you have a C14 and have used it with great success. Portable Dobsonians with greater aperture are out there. Any input would be greatly appreciated on this subject (See my post under Deep Sky Observing).
