The second group are the gold ones.
The last group are the new type, with blue lenses (transparent). Not sick.

Your PST is just 10 numbers before my older one (#95424). It's now more than a year ago that I sent mine for repair and it was severely sick as yours.

Degradation of the objectives in both PSTs seems to me quite similar. They should be part of the same bunch for sure.

Hi Mike,

I'm very happy with my new PST. It's a completely replaced unit with "golden coatings". New blue coated objectives are performing very good as well.

Been a few weeks since I last used the PST.

Update: PST serial#95166, 7 months repaired with the new transparent blue lens, objective still looks clean and clear.

Hi Richard, just to clarify 103552 wasn't a replacement for sick scope, it was just a new PST.

Guess you'll have to add my PST serial number to the list! #95919 from December 2004. (Got it on the 24th, 9AM) Shipped direct from Coronado on the 22nd.

I didn't have a problem when this saga began and I've had a PSM 40 mounted on the PST for the last year and 8 months. Been doing LOTS of "SOLAR Star Parties" and outreach with schools. I took the PSM 40 off of the PST in July and saw the dreaded "RUST". I didn't have it in December of 2005. I didn't notice a significant change in the views, so I must have "adjusted" to the changes.

I have some commitments for this school year already and am anxious about the repair "turn-around", especially with all the comments I've read in most of these threads!

One of these threads had a phone number to call. I'll have to go look for it again and see how the repair plays out.

I was just up your way a few weeks ago, Visited Camden & Bar Harbor with the wife & kids. Very nice! Had the best lobster roll in Camden at that restaurant above the falls downtown. Yum!
There's an 800 number at the bottom of the list that might get you started. Gotta have the best possible views for the schoolkids! You can just about see the little gears going around in there! Buzz, whirr!

I think i got a good one. The paper in the box said that it was built over a year ago. The lens was very clean. I haven't had a chance to compare to another gold or blue pst but i'm seeing all the details i was expecting.
