I have owned 3 PSTs, and I thought about owning another, but I am kind of afraid to. Have they sorted this stuff out? GM

SN 94769
I got mime from B&H when they first got released and I've been happy with it.
I haven't used the PST since the spring, but it was getting slightly dimmer as the months went on, after about the first six months. Not sure how it looks now. I guess I should take it out for a test spin.
Here is a pic of the objective from last autumn next to the 90mm. Under natural lighting, the color is silver coating but the browness was evident from the outwards in, IIRC.

Here's the latest iteration of the list. I hope I've corrected the error in Steve Kim's listing... Did I get it right, Steve?
Dave LoPresti:
It sure looks like your PST has "The Dreaded Creeping Rust" syndrome!
Look closely at the various pix here and at your scope and make the call to Coronado if it proves to be sick. I've added the Coronado contact info to the bottom of the list so we can all find it when we need it.

Da nada, Bill, think nuttin' of it! It seemed to be the logical thing to do. There's still that gap in numbers between the sick ones and the gold ones... I'd like to close that gap completely as well as the gap on the other side of the gold run... Thanks for your input, Jim, I included it in the post above! Rich

Let me add #94229 to your list. It is on display at the Tak dealer in Tokyo. I still have not had a reply to my "service ticket" request after filing it 3 weeks ago. Guess I need to call and navigate voice mail hell.

OK. None of the PSTs in your section is sick with "the creeping rust", BTW, as they're the new design.

Thanks, Doug! The list keeps growing and growing. Still haven't found the start of the gold objective group or the start of the blue & clear group.
Considering that your PST is in the blue & clear category, you probably won't ever have any problems. Enjoy!

My PST had the rusty lens problem, and I had it repaired recently. My serial number is 95009. My old objective was opaque and silvery. I now have the blue transparent objective, and it works well without any apparent bubbles or defects.
Russ at Coronado was very helpful, and it took about a month to repair.

Hi there. Just found the thread whilst surfing in bed. Got my PST just AFTER the venus transit, one of the first, with a thank you letter from Cornado for my patience. Great little scope, use it whenever I can. Always been a bit of a pig to get the 'best view' with the sweetspot and tuner, may have been a bit worse of late..... maybe the seeing or my eyes though.
Just checked the lens with a 5W LED torch.... front lens is a nice hazy pale green colour with what looks like a dense sprinkling of 'fine red sugar' in the middle section. (A "bloom" as it is known in the busuness) Yes, it is sick too.
94115, 1st up, top of the list!!
I'll be contacting the UK agents (Telescope House) ASAP to see what can be done. This one is pretty well gone. Will be nice to see what a fresh one looks like... better views hopefully.
Thanks for everyone who has posted on the various threads.... I'd have been oblivious otherwise.

Just letting everyone know my "sick" PST is back, after some initial trouble with the Meade rep not issuing a pick up, after saying he would, then not returning phone calls. It was picked up on Dec 7, the repair ticket was dated Dec 12&13, and it arrived back here on Dec 22, with a new IRG, and objective lense (clear blue type).
