LX90 is a great scope. I am thinking to make it greater for both visual viewing and photography. Anyone has a suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Hi K.M. Lee,
Visually the scope is pretty good out of the box. For photos, you're probably going to want a wedge. The basic wedge Meade sells for $150 is not going to be something you'll want to use long term. It shifts a lot of weight from it's initial center of gravity and makes everything less stable. The super wedge or a Millburn wedge are much better and much more expensive, you will also need an adapter plate to use them. You're also going to want a counter weight system to balance out all of the goodies you're adding to the back (or to the top if you're piggybacking a short fl lens). I've heard the Meade one works well, but it's only 1D. You're probably going to want a 2D or 3D system depending on where you are mounting add ons to the tube. You may also want vibration dampening pads especially if you are set up on concrete. Lastly unless you're in a dry place, you'll need a dew prevention system for the optical tube as well as any scopes attached to the OTA. I have a dew-buster and it works great. I've got about half of the items above in hopes of getting serious with AP, but am in a pickle deciding if I want to make the rest of the mods, or perhaps get a different setup (such as a GEM instead of a FM). Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for your effort. As I don't have much money for GEM, I am considering a Milburn wedge for equatorial latitude. Is there any math to calculate whether the setup will be stable enough when the bary point is totally out of the center? What's the limit of a wedge?
I know the 2D counter weight system. It's the X and Y axis, am I right? What about 3D? I don't understand well how does it work.
Do you mean that if I set my setup on a concrete floor, the vibration from the floor is easily transmitted to the system? What about a garden ground?
By the way, you may call me Robin which sounds more lovely.
