I own two old Japanese-made binoculars that have a similar problem. When viewing through either of the two binoculars the image has what i could best describe as glare near the centre of the view. At first I tried cleaning the lenses, but after taking both binoculars apart and inspecting all lenses and prisms I realized that the source of the problem should be something else. After doing some investigation I found that some binoculars have light interference problems caused by either prism leaks or by light that is trapped inside the barrels when the optics are poorly coated or uncoated. I was wondering if such a problem could be fixed.

Don't know if this is the same, but I have an old pair that has what I would describe as a halo around bright objects. I believe this to be due to some sort of haze on the prisms, possibly from some moisture having seeped in over the years. It's worse in cold weather.
The glare you're seeing, is it always located in the same position relative to the light source, and does it mimic its shape?

The problem is visible in daylight when observing any source not just a bright object, but it is also visible when viewing the Moon. I did check the prisms and could not see any visible moisture. I also tried blowing some hot air inside the barrels, but with no success.
