This is also posted in the cats-casses forum, since I don't know which area is best to post...
What adapters would I need to incorporate a 2" filter in the optical path to do prime focus photography on a Meade LX200 8" "classic" SCT using a Digital Rebel XT and T-adapter? Is it possible?
I found a way to get a 1.25" filter in the optical path... use the Meade eyepiece-SCT adapter (comes with scope), which threads to the back of the scope and has a 1.25" hole with set screw. Then, I use the nosepiece of the Meade ETX Camera adapter #64 (which is a 1.25" eyepiece nosepiece to t-thread adapter, also houses small plossl eyepieces if desired). The ETX camera adapter has threads in the 1.25" nosepiece for filters, and the other end is a t-thread.
The only downside to the 1.25" setup is I get some vignetting. A flat frame shows the vignetting is similar to the my regular prime focus setup using the standard Meade SCT-to-t-thread camera adapter for the LX200... probably because this adapter holds the camera about 3" away from the scope, and my 1.25" eyepiece adapter-to-t-thread setup is much closer to the back of the scope.
I'm looking to get an astronomik UHC filter and don't know if I should get the 1.25" or 2". Big difference in price. If anyone can tell me how I can hook up a 2" filter to the t-thread adapter on my DSLR at prime focus that would be great. Thanks!

Thanks for responding. I have a few questions because I don't know exactly what parts you're talking about...

2" visual back->2" filter
Do you mean the 2" filter threads directly onto the SCT, or do I need to buy a 2" version of the SCT-to-eyepiece adapter (with a set screw)? I already have a 1.25" SCT-to-eyepiece adapter (which is explained above).

Where do I get one of these?

One came with my LX200, but the usual accessories companies sell them (e.g. the Astro-Engineering AC304)

A 2" version of the SCT-to-eyepiece adapter is what I use. Mine's from Astro-physics.
